More of an 'Introduction to the Aircraft Involved' than an exhaustive account. Doesn't really go into the strategies, tactics, nor logistics of the effort. Mentions Topgun only once.
From my vantage point as a post-Vietnam RA-5C pilot, the authors seem over-enthused regarding the RF-8, and don't cover how the reconnaissance results were utilized. No mention of the RA-5C's 18" panoramic camera, IR scanner, flashers, side-looking radar - there must be some reason the Vigilante's production line was reopened to build more during the war?
This makes me suspect the comprehensiveness of the coverage of the other aircraft.
Over-emphasis on Mig kills, with no discussion as to how this might have had any impact to the course of the war.
Could have used additional maps. How about SAM/AAA envelopes? How about charts from a typical mission from Yankee station or Dixie station?
