Israel - Culture Smart!: The Essential Guide to Customs & Culture
This edition provides important insights for listeners, revealing what to expect and how to behave, how to avoid misunderstandings, and how to form good social and business relationships when on visit to Israel. While Israel is a modern and largely secular country, it is one steeped in biblical history―a place where religion still plays an active role in public life. In seventy years, it has grown from a sparsely populated strip of land into a vigorous democracy and regional superpower. Often called the Startup Nation, Israel is a world leader in a number of high-tech industries. Its democratic institutions, despite political and social polarization in recent years, are among the most enlightened in the world. This pocket guide will help listeners understand the country and its people beyond the headlines, ensuring greater understanding and a valuable and successful traveling experience.

What a wonderful little book. This book is a really great, concise primer on Israel's culture, its people, customs, etiquette, daily life, values, etc. Accompanied with a good travel guide book on specific points of interest, lodging, restaurants, etc., this book fills in many of the gaps that such a book would not address. It would be interesting to know how a native Israeli might views its information and observations; however, from what I've read in other sources, this book seems credible. I highly recommend this book for anyone coming to Israel for either business or pleasure.

Book was very biased. Seemed to completely cover up the fact there is ongoing tensions and that many of the citizens would say their land is occupied. Everything is right as rain apparently.
Not to say the book was bad, had some very interesting information and covered some of the history of the land. Barely covered the Christian significance either though.

Good overview, non-biased book that works for secular, Jewish, or Christian tourists. This version was a little outdated so it was amusing reading about the Israeli land line phone network or about how taxi's operate. Still, there are updated versions out there and if you have never been to Israel and want an idea of what to expect, it's worth the read.
