Powerfully Perplexing Presidential Profiles is a fun fact/trivia book on our United States Presidents from George Washington to Donald Trump, written in a fun, witty style, to make learning entertaining and enjoyable. The book includes a never before published timeline linking two presidents at the same time somewhere in history. Whether you like American History or not, you will find a wealth of stories and facts to be shared that could spark conversation or debate at any party. After all, George Washington’s kids were the first to play on the White House lawn right... or were they? This book covers a vast array of presidential trivia and facts, making it a fun read for kids and adults alike. A freelance writer of middle grade and young adult fiction, Rod Martinez grew up on Marvel Comics and The Twilight Zone . He also had a fascination with American History dating back to grade school. He is the author of The Juniors and regularly speaks at schools, conferences, and libraries promoting a love of the written word.
Rod was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and was attracted to words at an early age. His first book “The Boy Who Liked To Read” was created in grade school, his teacher kept it. Eventually he discovered comic books, but his High School English teacher told him to try short story writing. He wrote middle grade adventure "The Juniors" that was picked up by a publisher, and the rest – as they say, is history.
I'm usually very picky about audiobooks. If the narrator doesn't keep me engaged, I lose my focus. Robert Slone was the perfect choice for this history book. Even though it was released a while ago, the audiobook is new on Audible. It's marketed for children, but as an adult who doesn't know much about American history this book was exceptionally well put together. It's narrated in a simple way, but it's not childish. The author, Rod Martinez, offers interesting, many times fun details about the life of American presidents. Another thing that I enjoyed was the way he sprinkled information about the first ladies in every chapter. I can easily say this is a literary piece for every age, not just for middle school.
In a country where the political climate is not always so great it's nice to have a fun, informative book like this one; it educates, but manages to do so with a humorous and non-partisan voice.
This would be a wonderful book for a child (or ahem, adult) who's wanting to learn more about the men (and women) who have helped shape our nation.
Rod does a fantastic job of telling us about each of our presidents; providing fun facts about their lives, their time in office, notable first ladies, and tidbits about the job itself.
Did you know that Jimmy Carter was the first president to be born in a hospital? It's just one of the many things I learned from reading this book. Check it out and see how much bigger your brain gets!
This book is loaded with fascinating Presidential trivia for the young and old! It is a quick, enjoyable read that leaves you thinking throughout "I didn't know that!"
