Rate this book

As New Covenant believers, we can take comfort that this judgment brings life through a healthy fear of the Lord. Instead of warnings of hellfire and condemnation, this judgment brings a cleansing that will set the stage for the greatest outpouring of glory, prophetic thunder, and supernatural power the world has ever seen. God is simply looking for a people made ready--a house that is compatible with the glory He wants to fill it with! Jeremiah Johnson is a church planter, pioneer of Maranatha Ministry School, bestselling author and globally recognized prophet. In Judgment on the House of God , Jeremiah presents an impassioned prophetic word that challenges Christians to live without impurity and compromise, not through the bondage of legalism, but through ignited, burning hearts of passion towards the Lord. Birthed through an angelic visitation, Judgment on the House of God includes revelatory insights A great and wonderful outpouring is coming. Now is the time to set things in order so that you can be a pure vessel that the power and presence of God can flow through!

Excellent book - scripturally sound!
Some of the reading may be hard to hear, but is right on. This is a book that every Believer should read for discernment of some of the things around you as well as encouragement.

If you are a pastor, priest, or other leader in your church, or involved in any other way, such as choir member, a musician, a greeter, then this book is for you. And if you are even thinking about becoming a leader in your church, then this is a must read.

The author, Jeremiah Johnson, was visited one night in a hotel room by two angels. One was a cleansing angel and one a glorious angel. They told him the churches will be cleansed from the leaders down to its people before God will fill His house with His glory. Their message was based on Ezekiel 44, which the author breaks down for our understanding, and he includes many experiences with his own sins.

God is cleansing churches from the top down. If you are practicing some secret sin while delivering God's words to His people, your sin will soon be revealed. Also, any charismatic preaching and worship delivered will not be "annointed" by God until the sin is dealt with and you, the leader, has repented. But, if you repent only so you "can get back into ministry", then you have not really repented. In this case, that person should not be serving in the ministry at all. (p. 90)

It is time for leaders to also confront the sins of its people. Stop ignoring and compromising sinful behavior. This is accepting sin, and you are giving God's people mixed messages and cheating them out of annointings. The author discusses a few examples of these compromises in this book.

Our generation, and upcoming generations, are in great spiritual trouble. We seek promotion and influence and recognition. But, God wants us to learn to pray and lead from the knees. Many, who are ready to preach, do not realize that "divine validation is in the wilderness, not on a platform" (p. 96). I can imagine how hard this is on today’s leaders, and soon to be leaders, growing up in a generation totally self-centered and addicted to the popularity and on the number of "likes" received on all the different social medias, including Goodreads.

God will pass judgment on churches who continue to minister more to people rather than to God. When leaders focus more on entertaining the people (applause, platforms, concert style worships, microphones, networking, phone calls, emails, texts, money, popularity, etc...) rather than pure ministering to God, these are considered horizontal ministering...which can be as addicting as crack cocaine.

The author, himself, had an addiction to ministering, which God called him out on. He was told by God to take a 4 month break. No public praying, no preaching or prophesying to break his addiction on the wrong motives and refocus his attention on God's Son, Jesus. God wants us to work on our insides (our character) versus using us on the outside (in ministry). He wants us to get alone and pray. This quiet time with God is what creates intimacy with Him.

This break can be applied to other bad addictions we may have, such as Facebook, Twitter and all other social media addictions. Like Jeremiah Johnson, we may never know just how bad our addiction really is until we decide to quit it. I know. I quit Facebook 6 months ago and I still struggle with what to do with my boring and 'uninformed' life. There comes a point in time, if you are not careful, that you begin to do things just so you can post on Facebook. If you don't believe me, then stop posting things on Facebook and see if you still enjoy doing those things. Problem is, I haven't spent any quiet time with God to know how to fill that void.

The purpose of the house cleansing is so that God's house "might become a house of prayer once again" instead of an entertainment center. Intimacy with God should be prioritized far above ministry to the people.

Pray for God to release His cleansing judgment upon His house and our lives: "Father, if there is anything in my life that is hindering deep love and affection with You, expose and remove it now." (p. 48)

Timely

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first picked up this book but I found that I couldn't put it down until I had finished. This book takes a frank in depth look at the modern day church in a fresh and revealing way. It is honest about sin and the need for holiness. Two words I hadn't heard in a long time. It answered my heart cry of why I felt empty in the church. It pulls back the cover and let's you see why we have a powerless church. I found myself in deep repentance as I turned the pages and the presence of the Lord was there to meet and minister to my hearts cry for myself and His church. This book is refreshing, thought provoking, and well written.

I'm a Southern Baptist pastor and have a Masters of Divinity from SWBTS. I disagree with his definition and application of the word, "prophet" as I believe that there are no prophets in the bilical definition of the word as they had to be specific, absolute, and accurate. Rather, modern day prophets in my understanding are Christian leaders who make God's word known and point back to the Bible. “The one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation” (1 Corinthians 14:3, ESV). However, I absolutely agree with everything else in the book and I believe it was well written and researched.

Church, you better take notice

Wow what a timely message that doesn't mince words about some real problems in the church. Ministry addiction is rampant in the ranks and the Lord has called it out,in this book. If you're serious about seeking the face of God and ministry to Him, then read this book. If you're satisfied with "playing church" and building YOUR MINISTRY "kingdom", then you won't like this book. It'll call you out! Come on! Get serious, Believer! Jesus IS coming back and it's SOON!!!

This book helped me to continue to pray for others

The most amazing thing that I learned was, we need to have a vertical relationship with the Lord. Most of the time we are so focused on the horizontal ministry to other people. Pray, fasting and spending time with the Lord should be our number one focus.

It is time

That's the message from Jeremiah Johnson. I say let the will and purpose of the Father come and cleanse us. In order that true refreshing of the Holy spirit may be the norm for the church of Jesus Christ.

Livro curto porém com uma narrativa intensa que leva o leitor a se sentir instigado em um novo nível de entendimento sobre a Igreja e que busca gerar uma inconformação com a situação em que se encontra o evangelho.

The church’s response to the current condition of our world will be pivotal to its’ outcome. This is a great word on where to start recognizing where we (the church) got off course.

Message for right now

This is a message that so critical for right now. We need to be able to discern what God is doing and why. Jeremiah clearly lays out both. If we miss this then we will get God's heart wrong. We will miss what God is doing and be left outside the walls. Jeremiah gives the why and presents solutions. Jeremiah proves he is a solutionist for our time. I urge you fathers and mothers in the faith to read this. I urge the sons and daughters to read this. If you value at all the full counsel of the Lord this is for you. If you have rejected the full council of the Lord and need to get in it, this is for you. The problems and solutions are clearly laid out for us to examine ourselves with and then implement those solutions. Clearly God is moving in His house! Maranatha!
