Dale Schafer’s time in the Army leads to periodic missions into the shadows where his unique skill set proves to be an invaluable asset for the growing demands in the war on terrorism. His body comes to crave the dangers and excitement of his missions with a drug-like dependency. In his latest mission, his long history of success meets up with the life and death nature of the work. The shadows have their secrets, and Dale soon discovers he’s not fully prepared for all that lurks there. His work as an operative has little resemblance to the war he signed up for as a soldier. It culminates with a fight for his life in which he’s left to question basic understandings of self, family, and God.
