This is by far my favorite book by R. L. Weeks. She seems to have grown a lot as a writer recently.
Compared to previous work that often seemed to contain rush parts and unfinished business. This book offers a complete and well defined story that takes you in a world of witches and monsters.

The characters are compelling and well rounded, their flows are humanely crafted so that they don't dwell too much into their problems and at the same time rest realistic.
Kate, the main character is very human in the way she handles thing. Compare to other book of the genre where characters make stupid decision for no reason, Kate actually seem to have a good grip on what is happening and her decision never feel forced by the author design but more based into the event of the story. This felt very refreshing making this book one of the best in the genre I have read in a long time.

I really enjoyed the magic especially the jumps between natural magic and rituals, individual magic and coven magic. It was really well balanced.

The only thing lacking is the relationship between Kate and her mother that seemed to be forgotten from time to time. I'm sure her mother should have been pissed a few times over.

It was an interesting read and I look forward to the other supernatural books.

"To walk in the light, you must embrace your darkness. The only ones who could love my demons were yours."

This quote pretty much sums up the relationship between Kathryn and Nicholas. Kate is trying to deal with her father's gruesome death by bear attack and is suffering from dreams involving Nicholas, a boy she barely knows.

As their relationship deepens, Kate finds out many things about herself and her family. She also learns of a dark prophecy that (possibly) involves her and Nicholas. Kate will have to make a decision quickly in order to save herself and the ones she loves.

Ms. Weeks is a wonderful author and this story is another winner. Her characters really come alive as you read, the world building is awesome and the details really draw the reader into the book. This book is a little different from others that I have read by Ms. Weeks in that it is for a more mature audience. This book does have several pretty steamy sex scenes, but they were well written and tastefully done.

There are a few memorable quotes from this book, but here is my favorite: "No matter what, the ones who we lose never really leave us."

I was given the opportunity to read an ARC of this book by the author and chose to review it.

If I could give this book 50 Stars, I would. It grabbed me from the start and held me until the end in tears. The in-between was full of surprises and mystery. Plenty of adventure and action, young love and magic.
They say a sudden tragic death of a loved one leaves you vulnerable in you grief. But if you are a witch and don't it, it will bring out you're powers in surprise. Then you find out that you and your new boyfriend are part of some accident prophesy.
Awesome book! Hope there is another one to follow!

This author has amazing world building skills! The characters in this story are each unique with their own set of complexities. They are very well developed and make you feel. I loved the story as a whole the plot was original and fresh. It pulled you in from the beginning, flowed well, and held your attention throughout. There were many edge of your seat moments and moments that broke your heart. It was a great read.

This has to be one of R.L. Weeks best books so far. She is a fantastic writer I will never get tired of reading her work. Blood Witch is a coming of age with a twist. The book is written from Kathryn point of view. Kathryn is waiting for her 18th birthday when she will receive her powers. While she is waiting in comes Nicholas a hottie and sparks fly. There's two covers the Black Rose which are dark and The Black Lilly which are light. Both want her and Nicholas but who will get them? Weeks has lots of characters but you never get confused at all. I will say no more then you will not be disappointed in this book and you won't sleep till your finished.

Blood & Magic by R. L. Weeks is paranormal and writing at its best!!

We are taken into a world of witches, warlocks and so much more. We are made to feel like we are in the thick of things with them. The details in this story are brilliant and help bridge the picture of the story as a whole. The twist, which I'm not telling you, will leave you in open-mouthed shock. I love stories like this. Oh, can't forget the chemistry that jumps off the pages between Kate and Nicholas. Swoon!!!

Kate has lost her dad tragically and trying to bring back some normalcy is not easy. With the senior year of high starting, nothing is going as planned nor will it be normal again. From nightmares of an abandoned house to having the school's bad boy, that everyone hates, but who loves giving her attention, strange things start to happen.

Nicholas knows what is about to happen. But when a link forms between him and Kate, he will try and protect her at all cost. No matter what it takes.

From here, we are taken on a ride of self-discovery and learning acceptance. Life changes.

I was a little sad at the end of this story because I wanted more of Kate and Nicholas.

Wish I could have given her more stars! This book was amazing! Ms. Weeks continues to create new characters and story lines that keep you glued to the pages to see what happens next. The characters are compelling and complex and the story has twists and turns you will not see coming. If you are a fan of the supernatural combined with some romance and suspense you will thoroughly enjoy the world Ms. Weeks has created. You must read this book!

I want to first state that I actually received a copy of this book from the author alongside a book box. At the end of this review is the link to my video on YouTube. You can follow it for future unboxings and writing/book related stuff. What follows is my opinion on the book itself and there was no compensation for this review.

I have read a few of R.L. Weeks' books and she has a good imagination. Each story is better than the other. And though I prefer her short stories, her books aren't bad. This includes Blood & Magic.

Blood & Magic follows the life of Kate Bathory, a senior in high school and a girl who pretty much secluded herself after the death of her father. Upon coming back into the real world, she learns something that was kept hidden. It is both something beautiful and dangerous, two sides of the same coin.

The magic part had to be the most interesting to me. The world is dark and beautiful and well thought out. I felt Weeks made her own witches, but was also understanding to the witches of today. They could coexist together in this world without really being an impact to one another, and I liked that. This world also made me think of Sabrina on Netflix, another witchy story where magic can be dark and beautiful at the same time.

The romance wasn't bad. There were parts where I could see the chemistry between Kate and Nicholas, but I feel there might have been something missing. Maybe it's more quality time? I'm not sure. They are well written and you could see how the romance grows. As for Nicholas being a bad boy, lies! He's actually a cuddly teddy bear and intuited Kate's needs. Dude, this guy isn't a teenager, he's closer to his twenties or thirties with the amount of presence he has with Kate.

I bet you can guess who I really liked in the book. Yep, it was Nicholas. Though you are seeing the story through Kate and she isn't a bad character, it was Nicholas who I found to be a bit more interesting. You don't get much about his personal background, but what you do know, you are interested in what he has to bring. He may have made some stupid choices, but I feel he was just an overall more thought out character.

All in all, the book wasn't bad and it hasn't pulled me away from supporting R.L. Weeks and her writing. If you like paranormal reads, but don't want a series per se, you should check out the Supernatural New Order books. Each book is set in the same world, but all are standalones. Blood & Magic is the first and coming soon is Dead Girls.

I absolutely love everything that this author writes and Blood and Magic was no exception. R.L.Weeks gives us a story that consumes your mind and you cannot tear yourself away from it.

From the very start Kate is a character you cannot help but love and root for. She had been through so much and has so much more to fight through as she learns of her magic within. The struggle for answers is a road that is extremely tough and the death around her is getting intense. Not to mention Nicolas that will go everything in his power to keep her in the dark, it’s a fight through for Kate.

Truly loves the different take to the story and the twists and turns were so good. Definitely a must read!!!!

Another wonderful book by R.L. Weeks!

This magical book had me under its spell from page one and wanting more at the end.

I lost my precious mother at the beginning of this year, so I really had a bond with Kate. I understood the grief, numbness, and pain that she was going through. I couldn't imagine going through everything that we went through while being in high school and discovering that I was a witch, talk about drama!

R.L. had me entranced to the end, I needed to find out what would happen to Kate and she didn't disappoint me!

If you love paranormal romances then this is the book for you!

I was captured by the story and the characters right off the bat! This book is spectatular! The characters pull you in and their story keeps you turning the pages. Tragedy can make or break you. What will it be for Kathryn and Nicholas? What role does her magic play in their destiny? You have to pick up a copy and see. No spoilers! This is a must read. I can not wait for more from this author. Fantastic job! New favorite for me! I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance copy of the book from the author.

I actually gives this wonderful book 4 1/2 stars. First you meet Kate and you get to join her on her journey to discover she's a witch and what adventures that entails. The story is intriguing and thrilling and even sexy! I found myself playing that game we all play when a book is getting really good, "Just One More Chapter," which usually doesn't work when the whole darn book is good!! So I definitely do recommend this book! So light a candle, get comfy and enjoy Blood and Magic!! It's enthralling!!

I am really picky when it comes to genres and when I saw that this one was sorta kinda YA I almost didnt pay this author no mind. BIG MISTAKE if I hadnt. I would have missed out on all the great stories and characters she has given me and just keeps them coming! With this book she gave me all the feels with her mystery, romance, chills, and some way serious angst that kept me turning the pages until the end. All the characters that this author has introduced me to have really became the reason why I just cant get enough of this author!

This book contains everything you could possibly want in a paranormal story. It is mysterious, romantic, chilling, and has serious angst to keep you turning pages until you finish the book. R. L. Weeks has given us a thought provoking Young Adult book that is so well written that you become lost in her story building world. It captures you from the first paragraph to re end. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves paranormal reads.

Blood and Magic takes all the right ingredients & entwines them together to create a sorcerous read. Love, loss, friendship and family secrets swirling through the pages with magic popping up in spades throughout the narrative . A paranormal cosmo with witches, warlocks, and so much more above the surface. With intricate realm building depictions & backdrop. Eerie moments bleed through the pages of this spellbinding read. Character's are compelling as well as complex with a mystifying edge to them. Sensual moments entangled between Kate and Nicholas, bring light to the romantic gestures in this coming of age novel in a nouveau monde where paranormal live among the humans. The writing style is intoxicating and the narrative is blood-tingling. I absolutely love the creativity of the witchcraft spells, rituals, and occultism used. I loved the all the magic between the natural magic, and coven magic which was all well balanced.
Witches are my favourite supernatural character's and this author indulges your senses. Looking forward to reading what's next from this author.

Hmmmm

This story is a dark one. It was kind of hard to read too. The characters ended up being ones i liked though. ***possible spoiler*** I struggled with the ending though. Wish it could have ended differently. There was several instances "f" word and sex scenes which i found unnecessary.

Captivating magical storyline.

This book had a great mixture of dark versus light. You weren't quite sure which would win out.
Every character played a synchronized role making the whole story round out well.
