Edit: Clearing my rating from this book. It looks like most of the false five-star reviews have been removed from this book, as well as the one-star reviews from other authors books. I'm glad she's tried to change what happened, so I'll give her that much.
Super odd that this book that hasn't been released or hasn't sent out ARCs has a TON of five-star reviews within a couple days on both books. Also odd that other big name indie authors got their new releases one-starred by many of these same accounts. Shame, shame, shame.
I too am an indie author, and this author has 137K followers on IG. A couple weeks ago, I got a follow from her. I was like, wow, someone with such a big following wants to follow little ol' me?? So I followed back. Boom. She unfollowed. So I unfollowed. Then I got a request from her again. Okay, let's do it again. I followed. She unfollowed.
In short. This person is sketchy. She's trying to step on other hard-working, amazing authors to get herself to the top of a pile that she doesn't even deserve to be on. SHAME ON YOU!!!
It’s never a good idea to open multiple accounts, vote yourself up in the most anticipated releases list, and one star your competitors. It’s unscrupulous. It’s not the kind of work and author I want to support.
The author has no sense of ethics and has no respect for other authors in the community. She created bunch of fake accounts and went around giving 1 stars to all the book releasing on february. A hard pass. Guess now karma will hit her as readers and authors have realized the game she has played.
I don’t get it! How is this so highly rated when the book isn’t even out yet? And what’s up with all the 5 star ratings from people who only go by one name?
I thought about giving this series a try, but now I’m not so sure due to the fact I feel like this is being falsely rated. If the book is indeed that good, then let it get rated on its own merit by people who actually read it!
Thanks, but no thanks! Can’t stand it when a person does this!
Since the author of this book felt the need to give herself fake five star ratings and reviews instead of working hard and earning real ones the honest way, I’m giving this a one star. Creating hundreds of fake accounts to praise yourself because you don't like the response you're getting is beyond juvenile and dishonest. Boosting your book artificially is not going to help your career in the long run. Anything artificial is meaningless. You may gain a few bucks starting out, but the book community doesn't do well with cheats. I don’t support anyone who tries to manipulate and lie to readers, presenting themselves and their work as something it's not. As if that’s not bad enough, the story is glorifying an abusive relationship which is absolutely disgusting. Run far away!!
Honestly, I don't even want to waste one star on this author. This is just embarrassing, such a lame attempt to up your books rating. Creating multiple accounts to rate your book up. Shameful!!!!
Creating fake accounts to rank yourself up. My God!! This author has no respect or regards for the other authors in the community. She's trying to step on some amazing, hard working authors to reach the top piles which she doesn't even deserves to be on. Honestly, I cannot read or support books of people who are no sense of morals.
I will not now or ever support someone who tries to bring other authors down for their own personal gain.
Indie authors work so hard to get their books out there and find genuine readers while other people try to take an 'easy' (but incredibly stupid) way around it.
Okay so firstly i want to point out that the first book was a 1 star book for me my review of book 1 and i only decided to read book 2 because i can't DNF series no matter how much i try to. So book 2 was a 2.5 star for me. Most of the flaws this book had were definitely transferred from book one aka the book not being developed properly. However, there was improvement and more growth in this one. Although the author still used the 'fixing him' idea in this one too, i felt like this book was much better. I loved the sibling bond and the couple did develop (as much as they could considering the first book wasn't good) Even though the book wasn't exactly something i enjoyed because it isn't anything ground breaking, i do see potential in the writer. I think that she has a lot of growing to do especially in the way she handles criticism. But i think that she is a good writer and if she tries to write more 'original' stories that would work great for her. Again, i don't believe in cancel culture and i think the author can learn from her past mistakes and grow.
*An ARC was sent to me for an honest review* "Harlow" is the second book in "The Hastings Series". Harlow and Hunter are the main characters and they make a great couple together. After reading "Hunter" I've had high expectations from this one, but I got disappointed. This doesn't mean that the book was bad. The story got better and more interesting at the end. I wanted to read more about the relationship between Harlow and Hunter, apart from their sex life. There was some character development for both of them and that is something I liked about the book. All in all, if you enjoyed reading the first book, I think you will like this too, but not as much. I hope the next one will be better.
So many twist anand turns dealing with trauma in their lives. I love the how Harlow and her brother love each other. She learnt how to love unconditionally, she has given that same kind of love to Hunter and it encouraged him to be a better person. This story brings out so much emotion, it draws you in.
Really enjoyed this book. Couldn't figure out where it was heading but it kept my interest through to the end and it was worth it. Loved the ending and highly recommend reading.
