Good, basic introduction to most aspects of outdoor climbing and mountaineering from a British perspective. The extensive use of photos allows you to get a good sense of what is involved in each part of the discipline, but you will then probably want to seek out some more detailed sources. Unlike most climbing books, this one includes a little bit on the grey zone between hiking and traditional roped climbing with full protection.
