Maru is one of the cadets being trained for the military by Drill Sergeant Vyker (Vyker is the hero in book 3).
Maru is tired of living in the cadet's barracks so he gets a Companion. He can afford one because his parents are very rich and he is the heir to DurzaCorp.
He takes her to the same club 'Babel" that Vyker took his companion.
They have sex publicly and swim naked in the pool inside the club.
They fall in love. His parents want him to get rid of her so he can marry somebody to help his career. He says no. But she left and went to a hotel.
Reapers attack and she manages to get the hostages to safety down a food chute. The Reapers take her. He manages to get onto the Reaper ship.
They survive and he proposes marriage to her. He tells his parents he'd rather be disowned than give her up.

Maru is a spoiled, entitled, rich boy trying to make it through “boot camp”. His Sargent is Vyker, the drill sergeant from hell. Vyker seems to have is in for Maru, or so he thinks. Vyker dismisses Maru’s butler and bans him from the academy. The only way Maru is allowed to leave the base and live on his own is if her is engaged or married. Great plan!! Get himself a contract wife so he can live off base and still party and chase all the girls. Enter Reina, the contract wife that was chosen because she is somewhat of a trouble maker and seems to feel she is more entitled than the other companions in training. Rules are made to be bent, right? Sparks fly when they first meet, because Reina ignores Maru, which he is NOT used to. As they learn to live together and get to know each other, they fall in love. In walks Mom and Dad, who will not allow their son to marry a human, of all things!! They chase her out of the Condo and inform Maru when he comes home that they have picked out a proper wife for him and he either marries her or they will disown him. He tells them to take a hike and sets out to find Reina. She is staying in an upscale Hotel, trying to drown her sorrows, when the hotel is captured by Reapers. Their general has come to avenge his brothers death, and is holding the hostages until they produce Vyker. Of course Maru crashes his vehicle into the hotel, kills the Reapers on the lower while trying to find Reina. While Maru is distracting the Reapers, Reina helps all the hostages escape. Just when she is “out the door”, the general see’s her trying to escape and grabs her and drags her to his ship and takes off. Maru manages to jump on the last support ship just before it takes off. He is captured by the crew and taken to the General. During the ensuing fighting, escape and safe return to their planet, they both find out what is really important in life and love. At the beginning of the book, you wonder if either of them has any redeeming qualities, but by the end you have fallen in love with both of them!

Spoiled brat meat conceited brat! Ding! Maru is very well-off. He is born into all this money and he claims it is his even though he has not on the dime. So his dad says hey you need to go to military just so we can still make good connections and maintain face with our company. So he orders his Butler to sleep in his bed at night so he can try Lala with other women. When he is cut his sergeant kicks the Butler off planet. Not to mention he was served cheese and I guess version of ale or wine while he was supposed to be waiting to start his morning routine in training. Good gravy! So now he’s trying to figure out how to manipulate to get off-campus and still live the life.
Rena she has been in the Academy since she was three. The problem is is that she is not ready to go into the “real world”. When she is caught sneaking out trying to get a little fun the mistress of the Academy states that she’s not ready and she needs to observe more and better herself. But considering she’s learned so many languages, philosophy, international rules and all this other stuff she believes she’s ready for leave it. So in a fit of desperation she demands that she gets matched up so she can leave the Academy. And all this happens in the first few chapters!
So this is how this falls down into the craziness of this evolving relationship. Reina who is unimpressed by that spoiled brat who is unimpressed by the conceited brat. I can’t put this in a more summarized story. It is funny. It is truth or dare between two people who have no clue how to handle real life situations that are put in circumstances that makes them mature. A definite rate. A good laugh. Definitely will make you roll your eyes up in your head and say really? Definitely worth the time to read.

Maru and Reina
He's rich but his controlling parents have him join the Alliance and he gets Vykor for a drill Sgt. He is single and has to live in the barracks which cuts into his partying and womanizing. To be able to move off base as a Cadet he has to become a couple so he buys a Companion. Well, he thinks he will install her in the condo and have her and any other woman he wants. Raina shows up and he becomes smitten but she is cold to him until she's not. They are very compatible in every way and very quickly fall for each other with reservations. His very wealthy aristocratic parents arrive while he is in training and chase her off. She checks into the hotel and he chased her down but not before a Reaper attack where she helps 100 hostages get away but is taken on the command ship by the captain. Maru makes a 20 foot jump and managed to board one of the others as it takes off. He's transferred over and he and Rains are chained to walls across from each other. He is released to fly a Dart to stop the Reaper attack on the ship by the Captain Canal. They are after the captain go his attack on Alliance space and for trying to get revenge on Vykor, which is not profitable. He disabled or destroys the five ship, in the meantime she gets loose and kills the captain making her captain. When all is said and done they make it back home, confront his parents and finally get their blessing. They check into a motel since their condo is crawling with news people.

As an engaged man he could live away from the base and that was what he would become. He applied for a Companion and as soon as she arrived he moved back to his apartment. Trained from childhood to be a companion, Reina was both beautiful and well educated to exacting standards, not exactly what Maru had been expecting. However, he was not immune to her charms and before long she was everything he could want or desire. Then tragedy struck and she was kidnapped by reapers and Maru risks his life to save her. At first, I thought Maru was nothing but a spoilt rich boy but he surprised me with his determination to save the woman he loved. Reina was a survivor and matched Maru in her determination to save not only the other hostages but fight for Maru as well.

A rich, attractive and totally spoiled Alzhon playboy, that's how Maru was. This future leader of a multimillion-dollar dynasty, had his head full of smoke and it seems that not even the military training academy in Barakus could straighten him. Looking for a way to get away with it in the academy, Maru asked for a Companion contract. Surprise! Beautiful, brilliant, ambitious, fiercely independent and no without her own flaws Reina Vano, had her own designs of what she wanted, and she was ready to put a little work to get it. But as often happens, when things started working everything suddenly changed. Chaos through the four corners! Parents, Razors and fight for your lives because this is the end! Enjoyed how the plot development escalated with exciting and intense twists that had me reading eagerly. Anything could happen and Maru and Reina showed what they were made of. The story had action, suspense, intriguing characters, violence, scary scenes sometimes, amusing and hilarious other times, romance and a lot of heated passion. Maru had his swing and Reina, her Companions secrets! Another side of the aliens that I enjoyed.

Told in alternating POV of Maru and Reina. Fourth book in a series but can be read as a standalone. Maru is from a wealthy family. He is in the military because his family thinks it will be good networking for the family business. Reina has been trained to be a Companion. She is intelligent and dedicated to her craft. However, when they are contracted to each other it does not go well at first. They are both a bit spoiled. Maru expects an easy going plaything but Reina is highly skilled and intelligent. For the first time, Maru is unsure of himself. I love Reina’s sensuality and the fact that she can teach a player a thing or 2. Maru tries not to fall for her but when she is taken away from him he’ll do whatever it takes to get back the woman he loves. There are elements of control, submission, and voyeurism. This sci-fi, alien/human romance is a fantastic adventure!

This is one of the cheesiest over the top books I have read in a while. Maru is a very entitled, selfish, boorish loud mouth that pretty much turned me off almost as soon as I started reading. Kept expecting him to stop and say hey that was just me talking trash here’s the real me.
Reina isn’t much better, she’s better than everyone else in her opinion. While not as loud mouthed as Maru her feeling that she should pretty much be royalty was a real turn off. Glad that she overcame an impoverished childhood and has set some lofty goals for herself but man she just grated on my nerves a lot.
This could be an adult cartoon with the characters saying and doing outlandish things because they are entitled due to their financial status and it might be funny.

This is the first book of the Brides to Beasts series that I’ve read even though it’s book 4 now I have to get the other books in this series I don’t know how I missed them because when Athena brings out one of her books I’m there ready to grab it ohh well now I have 3 more books to put on my buy list. This book is another brilliant addition to the Athenaverse series you can always count on there being plenty of action, adventure, suspense, danger, 🔥🔥 loving and so very much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages and this Maru’s and Reina’s story, sorry guys no spoilers so read the blurb. This is a brilliant story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

The book starts with Alliance and Coalition as well as Trident Alliance and the Interstellar Human Confederation. The book is about Maru wanting to have a place off the base so he can do what he wants. Maru thinks if he got engaged he could live with hi finance' so he fast track a Companion contract with his family connections and wealth. Reina was in the Companion program because she could not handle blood or want to shoot people. Reina was telling her headmaster that he was ready to have her own contract but the only one that they had was for an Alzhon. Now would be the time to get this book. I will be getting more from this author.

I loved this book, from start to finish, this book is a winner. Maru is a cadet being trained by Vyker (good to catch with him) and decides to enter a contact for a human companion, enter Reina. The chemistry between the two of them starts off slowly but grows into a steamy, hot and passionate relationship. The big bad wolves in this book are Maru’s parents who do their best to run Reina off. Reina does leave for a tine and becomes a saviour in her own right when the Reapers attack. Loved the interaction and humour that is played out by Maru’s classmates too. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

This was a well-written story about the Companion Program and what each of these strong characters expect to get out of it. This story was intriguing as it had some very well-thought out scenes and story plots. These characters have very strong wills and personalities and butt heads constantly.This wonderful story has the following: intrigue, twists & turns, adventure, action, abduction, wide variety of races, humans, danger, defiance, compromises, love, steam and a HEA. I cannot wait to read more book in this Series. As Always I love Athena Storm's Books.

What a wonderful story of two proud people coming together and finding love! Maru is the son and heir to a vast empire, but currently in the military academy. Reina is an orphan who was rescued and sent to train at the companion academy. When Maru decides he does not want to live on the academy grounds, he requests a companion, which allows him to live outside the grounds. Reina is framed unfit for being given as a companion, so she asks for an immediate assignment. Lots of sex, kidnapping, rescues and rewards. Great read!

What an unexpected delightful read! This was a really great storyline that flowed well with some twists that were not predictable in the least! Maru is a spoiled over priveliged cadet that believes he is owed everything because of who he is. Imagine his surprise when the companion he gets does not agree! This leads to some interesting scenarios between them and a confrontation of epic proportions! Without spoiling the tale, suffice it to say everything works out in the end and it is a tale worth reading! One I enjoyed immensely!

Maru is a cadet at Barakus Academy when he decided to contract a companion in order to get other better living arrangements. Reina accepts the contract and is sent to meet Maru. Danger lurks close by when Reapers attack and Reina is taken hostage along with others. The book is full of action, danger and the love that is growing between Reina and Maru. There is a HEA for the two of them, but a lot happens first. I loved the story and highly recommend it as a great read.

Well I have been reading books by Athena Storm for a while now and let me say "Maru" was a lovely fast read. It kept me reading till the end. Once I started I could not put down. Highly recommend that you grab it up. Look forward to reading more by this author. Every book she writes keeps getting better and better.

Finally , A story about a real couple. A man who is masculine but not a beast and a woman is femnine yet strong. Who doesn't have to be dominant or a simpering slave.
The book starts a little confusing as usual as you see where they fit into the athenaverse but strengthens quickly with activity and action that continues to the end.
If I have time I would like to read in the books in a row to keep better track of the wole universe

This book had it all...action, romance, and of course, mating. It takes getting used to when you go from understanding, if not liking, the Reapers (Julianna and Goran in Caged Prey) to wanting to see them get their due in this book, but with a kick-@$$ heroine like Reina, you can't help but change sides. Maru isn't too bad, either, once Reina gets her hands on him, and between the two of them, you won't be able to put this book down.

I loved how this story develops. The author takes two Maru and Reina, two characters that initially I thought would be shallow and self centered in there own ways and expands them into multi faceted individuals. Their story is funny and sweet and I love it when the heroine and the hero save each other. A must read.

Maru starts out spoiled Alzhom playboy who feels that he is entitled to what ever he wants. Like asking for a Compaion contract so he does not have to live in the dorms. Enter Reina not a push over like expecting but o so much better. Watching them grow and become better for it. Looking forward to reading more by Athena Storm.

This is the 4th book in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Maru is a cadet at Barakus Academy and in order to love off the base he joins the Companion Program. Reina is to be his and is feistier than he expected. Will they find a work together? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and steam. There characters are a lot of fun and the world building is excellent. I really liked it.

*spoilers* Ordering a companion to move away from army barracks, Maru thinks he will keep on with his different conquests. But once meets his new companion, hes captivated and only wants to learn more about her. When she gets abducted by Reapers, he will do anything to save her. Only she ends up saving them both. Such a great story

Maru ordered a companion so he could move off campus away from the other cadets. Reina was found as a young child and raised to be a companion and was at the top of the class but she wasn’t liked very much. Reina and Maru ended up together but their relationship was a lot more than either bargained for. Interesting story

Great Story! If you are a fan of sci-fi romance, you will enjoy reading this story. The plot is hilarious as we have a conceited, spoiled playboy alien who is matched up with Reina, a spoiled human brat, who is in training to be a contract wife. Add in the alien’s parents, an enemy faction that takes Reina captive, and we have the setting for their adventures to show what’s at stake. Maru and Reina’s story
Another great story in the series. This is about Maru who is a cadet and has decided he wants to live off base and the only way he can do that is by taking a companion. Reina wants a change so asks to be sent next as a companion. This is there story of how they connect and what happens. I’m not going to spoil the rest only to say you will not be disappointed.
Another great story in the series. This is about Maru who is a cadet and has decided he wants to live off base and the only way he can do that is by taking a companion. Reina wants a change so asks to be sent next as a companion. This is there story of how they connect and what happens. I’m not going to spoil the rest only to say you will not be disappointed.

In the year 2338 marcu a alzhon was born into the durzacorp dynasty and goes to the banakus academy for the alliance military but when he thinks to buy a companion to get more privileges he gets reina who makes him a better man . This story is hot lots of great action and laughs.10 stars.

Story about the Companion Program and what each strong characters expect. The characters are strong willed and have strong personalities. There is plenty of twists and turns, intrese, action, adventure, variety of different races, danger, love, steam and wonderful HEA. Ready for the next story. I cannot stop gushing about how amazing this story is. It was incredibly well written and I loved it. I found the characters to be well written and this world is so well crafted and vivid that you can clearly visualize it.
