My new boss doesn’t like me, but that doesn't stop me from fantasizing about him. That's all it can ever be, though. Fantasies.
Flynn Alexander hired me because I have a talent, a very special talent I’ve worked hard to perfect. He says it’s a trick, useful but still a trick. He plans to exploit it.
In the business of whiskey, a world where men have ruled for centuries, I’m making my mark. I’ll prove I belong here. I’ll earn their respect and my place.
All I have to do is ignore my thirst for Flynn Alexander.
~Flynn Alexander
Devil’s Gold Distilleries has a new employee. And I can’t stop thinking about her.
She’s smart. Clever enough not to get involved with her boss. Strong enough to resist the attraction we both feel. And so beautiful I forget my own rules.
But like a tumbler of rare whiskey that must be savored, one sip of Allie Darling won’t satisfy me. I want all of her. The burn. The sweet. The fire.
Will we give in to temptation or keep our distance?
All is fair in love and whiskey, and one more taste might be enough to shatter us both.
April enjoys writing both historical and contemporary/dark romance with a generous splash of heat. When not penning tales of passion, she enjoys traveling with her husband, attending rock concerts with friends, and time spent with family. Brainstorming new storylines is best done while riding her horse or during long walks with her German Shepherd. A tumbler of good whiskey helps tie all the details together and brings her characters to life.
The h literally pants for the H 2.7 seconds after meeting him. It's one of the worst case of insta-lust. The H the same... but he ends up being a jerk! There's lines and lines of how heated they look at each other, even the co-workers start to say shitty things!
Then there's the cringing moment, when the h should be professional and because of the lusty fogged mind puts personal bikini photos and belly shoots in the middle of a important power point presentation.
"I may be young, but I’m not stupid. I may be inexperienced, but I know what I’m doing. I may be his employee, but Flynn wants me as much as I want him. This is so complicated."
After that the H succumbs to his needs... The 25 years semi-virgin h is like a cat in heat, that was in said meeting without panties.
I always look for books from this author. I really enjoyed this author’s regency romance books. This is a fresh, fast-paced contemporary romance with sizzling chemistry between a lady and her boss. Ms. Darling has a wonderful palette and genius marketing ability. Her new boss Flynn is very skeptical and does his best to ignore the attraction to his new employee who is also living in his guest house. I really enjoyed this book.
Really quick read. Even with 17 chapters, this is more a long story than a book, or even a novella. But, it was a complete story. No rushed feel or insta-love. Fully fleshed out characters and storyline, with enough meat to draw you in and keep you interested. At around the halfway point, I did deduct some points for what seemed to me to be just mostly drawn out sex scenes, but then when the heroine got to kick some douche bag ass, I added some points back!
I am this far into the Girl Power series and this is one of my two favorites so far. Some were good, some not as much and some so very good. This is my first book by this author and she has done an amazing job putting the depth of feeling and emotion into this short novella. It is admirable when an author can do this. I will definitely look into some of her other books
I've loved everything I have read of April's, and this is no different. The dynamic between Flynn and Allie is the best push and pull. Showing both the characters' independence and vulnerability makes for a beautiful romance. The only thing I can wonder is if Sawyer will get a book....?
Whiskey Darling: My Bourbon and Coke reading accompaniment
April Moran has released her book as part of a collection featuring bad-arse women in powerful job positions. It’s a collection that celebrates girl power, and Allie Darling is certainly shoe-horning her way into a job that very few women venture into, even today.
Ms Moran’s writing is descriptive in that you can visualise every scene she is setting, without being verbose or onerous, and each scene is pertinent to Allie’s part in her story. She is breaking into the predominantly men’s world of being a Whiskey Sommelier which not only includes the pairing of food and whiskey, but the art of marketing, and she’s endorsed by one of the best. She’s the complete package and I really admired her; gorgeous, long blonde hair, an extraordinary talent in detecting the nuances of whiskey tasting and a sharp work ethic, not to mention the beautiful personality to top it off. Hell, I’m into blokes, but man, she’s one hot lady....
And Flynn Alexander, the Devil’s Gold Whiskey Distillery’s Owner is nothing to be sneezed at either! Ms Moran’s description of him was pretty damn hot. And it wasn’t only him who noticed Allie. Not all on the team wanted her to succeed. There always has to be that one disgusting cretin who wants people to fail.
Since I’ve discovered April Moran’s books, I’ve found an author who loves to fully deliver on both story and steam! The chemistry between Flynn and Allie was certainly intense, the sex was hot, and the story moved along at a great pace.
I’ll also have you know that I happily enjoyed my Bourbon Whiskey and Coke with plenty of ice to cool the heat from reading this amazing 4.5 Star book. Highly recommended to those who love a good rollicking romantic read that will keep you well entertained.
April Moran has done it again! She poured her heart and soul into this book and it shows! I found this book to be equal parts intrigue, humor and very sexy. The book is written in first person, alternating between characters giving the reader insight into the 3 dimensional character. You know their thoughts, understand their confusion, revel in their confidence and love the self-deprecating humor (which makes them all the more human, they're just like us albeit insanely hot). I found the humor in this book to be very refreshing. For a book of it's length I found it to be so on point as well - the characters, circumstances, surroundings, minor players were so elegantly defined as the story played out I was sorry to come to the end. I wanted more. If you're looking for an elegant, sexy, intriguing book you can relate to, look no further - this is THE book. Highly recommend.
Flynn has met his match... in every way. Loved this... April’s book are always on my to buy list as they never disappoint. The push & pull between Allie and Flynn draws you in as the authors writing style is just brilliant... the words & phrases drag you in, builds up the tension wonderfully until boom... it hits the peak!
I couldn’t put it down & was counting the hours until I could pick it up again. Was super sad when their story came to an end...
Dang it, I read this book way too fast and now I’m sad that it’s over! Allie Darling got my attention from the first page. Her confidence and no nonsense attitude was awesome. I loved that she could stand up for herself, was smart and had a dash of sass too. The chemistry between her and Flynn was off the charts and burned up my kindle. I loved this story and hope there is more to come.
A new author to me. I enjoyed this book. FLYNN and Allie were meant to be. Both stubborn about their feelings for each other. It takes a bad situation for their true feelings come out.
