Into the Black #21

Refit and Repair

Rate this book
Against all odds, the threat of the Harvester, a monstrous creature that eats planets to produce more X'thari drones and vessels, has been ended, with the combined fleets of the Major Powers (and the Black Star Navy) emerging victorious! They not only destroyed the Harvester, but took out a great many of the X'thari's ships, likely crippling the insectoid menace for decades! Even more astoundingly, the people of Coldana live! Beaten, bloodied, and suffering horrific casualties, they are still alive.

But after the battle and the storm, it is time for ships and crews to return home, catch their breaths, and enjoy the accolades that come with their labors. As the common crewmen rest and relax, and the fleets refit themselves, the major powers take a moment to recoup their strength, and consider what the developments of Coldana mean for the future. For there is always a new threat on the horizon, waiting to be discovered.

I'm a rookie author, looking to write stories that I enjoy writing. Not gonna get awards, but honestly, I'm happy with each and every person that reads my work.

Stuart is a sci-fi and anime geek, who dabbles in tabletop and video gaming. He enjoys cosplaying and has gone to DragonCon annually since 2009. Frozen Soul is his first book.

It is a sad, sad day when you finally break down and realize that you will never have the life you wanted, never do the things you wished to do, and never see the things you wanted to see. All because of a stupid lack of lightsabers.

I was a 26 y/o college student at Armstrong Atlantic State University, as a theater major. Went to school for a while before, dropped out, tried to go back, dropped out.. Not much to say other than the fact that I'm a laid back guy, and the only drama I like is the kind that's on the stage.

If I act like an idiot, or do anything to offend you, chances are it is not intentional, and I'm being oblivious. In that case, hit me upside the head, and tell me, because I don't catch subtle hints.

Catching your breath after a fight

This volume is basically Blackstar and the major powers restructuring and reorganising with one explosively doing so. Still worth a read as we find how locals want to treat our boy going forward.

Good read

Well unlike other installments in the series this one has a different focus. The others were mostly wild adventure etc. This one was about the after effects of those actions. Was interesting just in a different way but housekeeping needs to be done even in a book series. Looks like next book is back to swashbuckling star way and sexy women!

A filler

This episode is a filler, a pause and recup/recap after the action of the last book. Nothing interesting happens, only at the end is there a hint that the next book might be interesting again.

A Solid if not exciting installment

This novella is exactly that: not huge amounts of excitement in the post-bug extinction but lots of world and arc building. Heat level in this is low, mostly fade to black, with the emphasis on relationships other than sexual ones.

Depressingly short

Stuart must be desperate for some beer money or something because this was depressingly short. Personally I don't even think this would be enough to count as a serial in a magazine.
