The Keys of Bible Study: Unlocking Scripture in an Age of Forgotten Truth was written to empower Christians to study their Bible without having to leave the Bible to do so. It is intended to lead the reader to approach the Bible from a biblical perspective, utilizing God-given, biblically identifiable principles to unlock truth in an age which has forgotten that such a thing even exists.
This is one of those rare books that while a person is reading it continually says to themselves, "That's really good!" and "I have never seen that before in the Bible," and "Tremendous truths!"
Mark Trotter does an outstanding job of giving some what I call "Master Keys" to studying God's word as a whole. Many Christians (including preachers & teachers) don't rightly divide the Bible because they don't understand these keys.
In my opinion, this is a MUST read for any preacher or teacher of the Bible! In the book, Trotter teaches on the following keys:
1. The Key of David 2. The Key of Theme 3. The Key of Divisions 4. The Key of Context 5. The Key of Comparison 6. The Key of Application 7. The Key of Words 8. The Key of Consistency 9. The Key of Association 10. The Key of Apparent Contradictions 11. The Key of Literality
This is a book I plan on reading again in the near future and would be most helpful for any student of the Bible. Refreshing that the author believes that the King James Bible is the perfect, preserved word of God for the English speaking world!
If you want to know basic Bible study principles, this is the book to read. This is well organized, well explained, and well documented with scripture references. This book provides the believer a solid foundation with keys to unlock the truth of God's word.
