Wat vond ik goed aan het boek?

Informatief: Het boek biedt een schat aan informatie over de evolutie van motorfietsen en de technologische vooruitgang die voortkwam uit de TT-races.
Fotomateriaal: De prachtige foto’s geven een visuele inkijk in de geschiedenis van het evenement en de heldhaftige rijders die de uitdagende Mountain Course hebben bedwongen.

Langdradigheid: Hoewel het boek boeiend is, kan het soms wat langdradig aanvoelen. Bijvoorbeeld, de gedetailleerde beschrijvingen van elke race kunnen soms overweldigend zijn.

An exceptional collection of information which does very well to cover each and every of the first hundred years of the event. In a very manageable length, the book allows the reader to understand the impetus for the event, how it evolved a changed each year, the vast majority of the notable names that have competed and been involved in the event, as well as the social and political issues surrounding the races throughout their years.

If someone were to make a new book on TT years 100-125 I would pick Mr. David Wright in a heartbeat, as I believe he has done a wonderful job on the first hundred years. While I would have appreciated more colour photos as they became available, the book is still hugely rich in photographs and illustrations of the time with barely any pages limit to only having text on them (Hardcover first edition), and a fair number of boxouts detailing specifically historical or notable events, races, and place names.

This book perfectly blends the line between being an academic compendium of facts, and an entertaining narrative, with the author making effort to highlight when concessions to the amount of detail that can be included has been made for the sake of length and readability.
