Rosemary Wells is an American writer and illustrator of children's books. She often uses animal characters to address real human issues. Some of her most well-known characters are Max & Ruby and Timothy from Timothy Goes To School (both were later adapted into Canadian-animated preschool television series, the former’s airing on Nickelodeon (part of the Nick Jr. block) and the latter’s as part of PBS Kids on PBS).

every child needs to have this book read to them..publishers, bring it back!...a friend wanted my copy and I would NOT give it up..it shows how fun people can be....like GRANDMAS, everyone wants one like this!!!!!

I wish I could give this book a 6. Possibly the best children's book ever written. Unfortunately, it's out of print.

The kids thought the old-fashioned telephone was fascinating and the bit with grandma coming out of it was pretty funny.
