The Introduction in this book talks about The CBD Revolution. “The big tipping point came between 2014 and 2018, when under increased public demand to decriminalize cannabis, Congress passed Farm Bills that changed the way hemp could be grown and sold. (2021, p.6) “And the marketplace exploded. The sale of CBD products skyrocketed 706 percent from passage of the second Farm Bill in 2018 to the end of 2019.”
This book is divvied up into three parts: part one gives the reader the basics of CBD, the second portion is about CBD and health, and the final part is a user’s guide to CBD.
Chapter 1 tackles the CBD Basics. “Well, CBD isn’t just a supplement like a vitamin C or calcium pill. It is a molecule that actually mimics and helps support innate health and wellness regulating system within your body: the endocannabinoid system or ECS. The ECS is involved in nearly every single biological processes, including digestion, metabolism, hormone regulation, appetite, immunity, memory, emotions, sleep, and much more.” (2021, p.10) There is a brief history of the medicinal use of cannabis on page 19.
In the second portion there is a lot of helpful information regarding different illnesses and other symptoms and how CBD can help. These disorders range from Autism to Depression to Diabetes and Heart Disease to Parkinson’s Disease and way more. For instance, the symptoms for depression are listed and then “…suggested that depression might be a product of endocannabinoid deficiency, meaning that low levels of these important mood regulators could lead to depression.” (2021, p.91) When the discussion turns to heart disease they state the following. “THC and CBD are both vasodilators, meaning they widen the blood vessels…this can have a positive effect on blood pressure.” (p.105)
As you can see there is a lot to learn about CBD and how it can be used as a natural health restorer. If you want to learn more I suggest you buy the book and read it. If it (CBD products) can do what they say they can we should all be using it.
Well, there is so much to learn about CBD since there is plenty of fake news/info out there. I learned a lot by reading about various aspects of CBD/CBN, etc. & how people use to help them for various ailments. I didn't realize the amount of things one needs to know about it though, kind of overwhelming. Where you get it & what to look for, is it a reputable product/vendor, etc. There is so much to sift through like the lingo of full-spectrum, terpenes, etc. I am almost more confused after reading this since I feel like there is so much more to learn. What is the definition of cannabinoid & what your body does w/ it. Dosing is another aspect that each person has to determine for themselves along w/ how to take CBD since there are various ways to do that. So I am glad to have learned about this but also know there is plenty more I need to understand. This goes though so much & totally recommend it so you can also be in the know.

Surprisingly this is the best book I've read to date on using CBD as a potential treatment for chronic illness. This book really gets into the facts about HOW CBD and related cannabinoids work in the body; which formulas (isolates, broad spectrum, full spectrum) work for which conditions; how various products are made and what that can mean for side effects; and the options for how to find, research, buy and consume the products. Incredibly useful and informative.
This was overall a surprisingly good read. I do not do any recreational drugs whatsoever, although I do suffer from constant pain all around my body which is super lame so I keep taking paracetamol to manage it. This was quite a breath of fresh air to know that there may be a more effective alternative to manage my pain.
Comprehensive resource on CBD! I'm new to CBD, having heard about the benefits. This book is organized into chapters based on conditions and diseases. CBD and it's effects on the body are covered in Part I, and Part II covers conditions such as acne, anxiety, Depression, Diabetes, Migraines, Sleep disorders and so on. Part III contains information on manufacturing, safety, dosing and use with pets. This is a great reference that I'm sure I'll be referring to again and again.
