KELECHI, an unsuspecting young woman, travels to England to surprise her husband, Johnson, but he has a surprise for her, one that leaves her stranded. STELLA suspects that there's more to Johnson's relationship with Kelechi but doesn't push because she has a secret to keep. MAURICE has always had an eye for Kelechi, and he was a man who knew no boundaries. JOHNSON is in a dilemma, as his secrets are about to unfold. A bigamy charge, a love interest, and an attempted rape rattle Kelechi's guileless life. Now at the verge of a nervous breakdown, Kelechi is left with a difficult choice.
Absolutely gripping, a perfect summer read I was drawn to this book after I saw the word bigamy. I didn’t know what to expect, especially the steamy scenes, which seemed to have been made to my specifications, not over the top. I was blown away by the author’s ability to make me root for and against some of the characters, especially Johnson, whom I absolutely hate and still root for. He can’t seem to make up his mind, and that’s what I find most adorable about him because I was like that for almost forty years. Thanks Agnes for making my day.
A gripping and emotionally charged story that pulls you in from the first page. The twists around love, betrayal, and hidden secrets are intense and unsettling, keeping the tension high throughout. Kelechi’s journey is heartbreaking yet powerful, making this a compelling read you won’t forget.
When unsuspecting Kelechi travels to England to surprise her husband, she is left shattered to find him cheating on her. The Girl From Home begins from here. Begins with Kelechi trying to navigate her path in an unknown country. Around a few known faces. But really alone.
Kelechi's character develops beautifully throughout the novel. The once naive and innocent girl evolves and comes out to be brave and strong. Johnson seemed a douche from the very first page but the author keeps you invested and guessing. Packed with drama and emotion, The Girl From Home by Agnes Kay-E is equally plot and character driven.
The only thing I felt is that the book would have been better if told in a single pov rather than alternating. I'll give The Girl From Home a 4 stars out of 5.
