Rate this book
Alan Carlton lives in Hobart, Tasmania with his his wife, four children and four grandchildren.

He often goes for a run around the block.

In 2015 he suffered a stroke.

A run around the block aided his recovery, especially when he went with members of his family. He loves the social benefits of long-distance running.

In 2019 he ran the Edmonton Marathon. This book is about preparing for, running in and recovering from the Edmonton Marathon. He ran the race with two nephews who live in Edmonton. They helped him finish and he thinks he helped them finish.

Alan loves the way focusing on something positive aided his recovery. Something like a run around the block.

This is a book about how human superpower can get you through the worst incidents that can happen to a person. A story about how a man can overcome any obstacle in his life, eat better, live healthier, and happier lifestyle. A true inspiration to us all! Kudo's to Alan Carlton!

An inspirational story of how determined one man was to put one step in front of the other after recovering from a stroke. The experience of lows and highs, good and bad and the funny things, this book has everything from recovering from a stroke to finishing a world marathon.

It illustrates how Parkruns bring community and tourists together. He explains techniques from a run around the block to training for a world championship marathon. This is also a personal story with determination and the love of running, sweating and puffing with mates and family.

Alan was a dentist, husband, father and grandfather who ran around the block and ran marathons.
After an acquired brain injury Alan is a husband, father and grandfather and runs around the block, runs marathons and wrote a book. Read it, if you like running or would to see that having an ABI is not the end of the world.

This is a book in two parts.

The first part of the book is one man's journey starting in ICU, learning to walk again and finishes with being able to run around the block.

The second part of the is the journey from around the block in Hobart to running the Edmonton Marathon. This section does have helpful advice and discusses in detail the basic principles of preparing for and running a marathon but at it's heart is a well written story of ups and downs and will of interest to anyone who likes to read a good story.
