Luminous: Australian Watercolours 1900– 2000 is the first publication in twenty-five years to focus on the National Gallery of Victoria’s outstanding collection of watercolours and gouaches.
Featuring insightful texts by experts in the field, this richly illustrated volume includes intimate studies and monumental works by some of Australia’s best-loved artists, such as Hans Heysen, Joy Hester, Fred Williams and John Brack.
Many of the watercolours are seen here for the first time, including significant new acquisitions, as well as works by contemporary artists such as Juan Davila, Jon Cattapan and Fiona McMonagle.
Luminous is a celebration of the extraordinary diversity of the medium in the twentieth century.

With contributions by Caroline Clemente, Jessica Cole, Kirsty Grant, Judith Ryan and Elena Taylor.
