Scott, Kelly's friend, is a sensitive, very intense person who is adept at hiding his troubles. When pressures at home and school become overwhelming, Scott attempts suicide. It takes concerned friends, a four-day ski trip, and a life-threatening snowstorm to help Scott realize what life really means to him--and what he means to others.
I am a senior woman but if I had this kind of Christian fiction in the late 50's and early to mid 60's, it would have helped me make better choices. I hope girls and guys of jr high age up will read this series. It does explain much about God while being true enough to young lives and boy/girl relationships. It might even penetrate those with the "walls" I had. My experience with Christian teaching was not of the optimistic kind. Many things have changed over the decades and some are regrettable, but this book shows that teenagers can learn to trust God with big decisions and find peace during the inevitable struggles. And so much of the book is about having fun. I wish that this sort of literature was written "back in my day!"
