Rate this book
This is the first book in a series of three drum set books. The series contains over 600 examples, including 30 drum solos. There is something here for everyone, from beginners to advanced levels. The books gradually and logically progress, opening with very basic drum beats using quarter notes and eighth notes, advancing to all divisions of the beat in common time. crash cymbals, open/close hi-hat patterns, varying cymbal and hi-hat patterns, examples for “open hand” playing, and alternate sticking patterns. This preliminary book introduces the student to playing a wide variety of drum beats and ends with 10 drum solos. The 10 drum solos will test comprehension and practice of the material in the book. With some basic understanding of how to read drum set music, students will be able to use this book. Though a student will find it beneficial to also have a real-life teacher. This book is example driven without long unnecessary explanations.
