I enjoyed this read--although one of the main characters was not human, he sure represents humanity! The chemistry was off the charts with these two, and the relationship development realistic when both parties are headstrong individuals!
So Nate is the hot guy next door that has Jessica mophing into jello everytime she sees him.
He ends up cooking her dinner and then having her for dessert afterwards and is totally smitten with her, not understanding these new feelings.
Then Jessica finds out he's her new boss and the shit hits the fan!
But they cannot stay away from each other, and Nate asks her to spend a week with him in exchange for an amount of money to cover law school and keeping her grandparents together.
The first night Jessica is assaulted by a sucubus and starts seeing things that couldn't quite possibly be, like the wounds Nate receives after fighting off the sucubus healing right before her eyes.
Then the scar across Nates abdomen vanishing (his death scar). This makes Nate panic because only a soul mate can heal a death scar.
So now not only does he have to grapple with keeping humanity safe from demons, he has to worry about keeping his soul mate safe, while keeping her in the dark about what he truely is.
On opening night of his bar Mirage, events unfold that open a seam that lets demons loose on the city and Jessica starts to realize Nate isn't human.
They battle the demons, close calls, exorcise the possessed, fortifiy Mirage for battle...
Jessica has a hard time being told what to do, and Nate cannot help but be controlling...which puts both of them in uneccessary situations with the potential to kill themselves...
Some demon manipulating makes them both realize their love, Jessica agrees to bond w/Nate as his soul mate--which makes both of them stronger, but inadvertanly brings Nate within a hairs breath of death, and ultimately kills Jessica.
Nate struggles with his need to have Jessica in his life because he's never know true love, and demons are trying to sway him in exchange for bringing Jessica back...he ultimately choose the right thing and hands her over to archangel Raphel...
Several weeks later, while out killing demons, a strange energy gets Nates attention down an alley, and thank the gods, there is Jessica--now an angel! Raphel was so impressed with Nate choosing Jessica's salvation over his own happiness, made her a warrior angel. Now immortal like him, both can fight to keep humanity safe.
They enjoy a sensual reunion--and live to fight throughout eternity.

Jessica and Nate are attracted to one another in a serious way. She has no clue what he truly is! She goes to law school and works as a bartender in a nightclub bought out from under her uncle. Wait until she discovers who owns the bar and who she works for! They are meant to be~ Nate is a Guardian who protects humans from demons. Soon, there will be a war that they need to win otherwise the End of Times will arrive. People are becoming possessed, killed and are out of control. The guardians have a huge battle ahead of them and the two most important people need to sacrifice everything for a true love. This series promises to be full of action and love and will have you wanting to read more. I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Jessie is working her way through law school. Her next door neighbor is driving her nuts with the headboard banging against the wall for hours. She leaves and bumps into the neighbor Nate and he apologized for his company that is making all the noise. The two end up having dinner and things get heated from there. Nate is being given a second chance after he died saving someone. Will he be able to have a relationship with Jessie? A decent paranormal read.

This is my first book by Harley James and I loved it. I don't usually read about stories like this one, but I a definitely glad I took a chance. This book is filled with action, romance, demons and alpha guardians of humans. I didn't want the book to end. I was thoroughly entertained by Harley James writing. So couldn't put this one down.

Nate a Demon hunter lived his first life in the 20th century in London his parents were joke he was schemer, a charmer and nought a very good guy but in death he did one good thing now he runs a club one that is in the business of killing and removing demons from the newly possessed but now he has a new problem JBlaze his mixologist she is driving him crazy with lust and is veritable distraction why is she so immune to his charm could she be his one and only mate one problem she's human.
Jessie going to college to become a lawyer but at night my alter ego JBlaze mixes drinks at my Uncle Mason's club one problem now hes out and says he was set up. She thinks it's the new owners. Shell figure it out one problem her sexy new British neighbor is driving her crazy with lust. Then she finds out he's her new boss could it get any more complicated ow yah when she threatens to quit he makes and offer she cant refuses him for a week and hill take care of everything her Bill's her schooling and her elderly grandparents what's wrong with this picture. Maybe the fact that Jessie cant figure out why he wants her she has major self confidence issues thanks to her crapy junky mother. Also there is some major Demon war on the rise and Jessie just got caught up in it hopefully the English Demon hunter hunks can keep her safe and with him forever.

Jessie (FMC) and her next door neighbour Nate have an easy banter and attraction which leads to a deal between the the two of them. One in which Jessie spends a week at the complete mercy of Nate. By following all his wants and needs. Blimey is that smoking hot to read!! These two spark off against each other thats for sure but other factors in this book threaten their budding relationship. Two characters and i loved their story. Its a great read. Cant wait for Katherines book. The taster sounds flaming good

This book was amazing!! It was very well written and the story and characters were well developed. I loved the individual characters personalities and seeing the relationship dynamics alter and evolve through the book. The story was action packed and full of twists and turns. It had suspense, intrigue, emotion, hot chemistry and romance. I’d highly recommend this book and look forward to future books in the series!!

First time in reading this author with first the cover than the description reeled me in. Following this Hunter it would seem that he is the one that is captured. Nate and Jessica capture us as the story unfolds with you first getting what he does and why but then the drama seeps in. There is also a bit of funny moments also. The author knows how to get this one going with also sealing our fate in wanting to get more from this when you finish this one.

Amazingly written
Had me on the edge of my feet and even though I cried when we lost her I am grateful she came back as the being she is wished though they had children because neither one was able to enjoy that previously as eternals and blessedly gifted children should be a possibility

Outstandingly addictive!
Nate Temple is a Guardian of Humanity and Jessica Blaze is a law student living next door. When they met colors bloomed, smell enriched, life blossomed for Nate. This is a tale of good vs. evil. Demons vs. Guardians and an expected romance. Ms. James gives us a well thought venue for this conflict with imagery I won't soon forget. I requested a review copy from Booksprout and these are my own thoughts. I also had to have a forever copy of my own.

I received this book as an ARC from Brooksprout, and this is my freely given review.
What a great read! This is the 3rd book in the series, but is the first book I’ve read. I have had no problem reading this one first, and I will be reading the others in the series because this book is such a good read. The main characters are fully developed, and are believable. Supporting characters have some details, but I’m sure they were introduced in the first two books with more development. Following them in the story isn’t a requirement. The story moves quickly, but has a lot of depth to it-I didn’t want to stop reading! If you like your romances with paranormal elements, heat, and that can’t put it down feeling, this is the book for you.

Jessie Blaze was trying in vain to study for tomorrow’s Constitutional Law test, but the neighbor’s headboard kept banging loudly against the wall for the past 3 hours. It wasn’t the noise distracting her as much as it was the fantasies that invoked! Not only that, but she just discovered her dinner was burning – and it’s difficult to ruin a pot of spaghetti noodles boiling in water! Still thinking about Nate next-door, she looked down as the dog started eating all the spilled noodles. She put her little Chihuahua in her large purse and headed out for the library with a side trip planned for McDonald’s. Since Nate was otherwise occupied, she wouldn’t run into him, so she only threw on a t-shirt and no make-up, ran out the door and smashed right into Nate, knocking his groceries all over the floor! She indicated her shock out loud that HE was not the one in there … uh… and he asked how long they had been at it! As fast as she could, she got up to leave, but he asked if she would let him make her dinner since he couldn’t go to his own apartment and “interrupt” the activity. Then he would quiz her later for her test.
Jessie kept making excuses for him to leave, so he told her he had been thinking about ways to ask her out since she got her hair caught in the metal mailbox downstairs! He poured her a glass of wine and urged her to sit down with him. He asked about her wanting to be a prosecutor, and she told him she wanted to protect the vulnerable, battered women, children, the elderly, disabled veterans. Then he called her an angel, right before the wall-banging started again and he broke into laughter. But when it continued, both of them were getting a bit uncomfortable until Nate walked over to her, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her!
Nate hadn’t been a nice guy before his death, but he was given a choice of fighting demons for the sake of humanity as a demon hunter, or facing hellfire and damnation. The choice was not difficult! He was given enhanced abilities— super-human speed, strength, and hearing – so he didn’t mind the muted senses and apathy that came along with the changes. But when he met Jessie, his world became brilliant again. He had only heard about this phenomenon when bonded Guardian pairs were involved. But now that she was in his arms, she was his. Jessie brings out the best in him, so as the battle for good and evil comes closer, Nate will protect her. Is something more going on between them? Can there be?
This is a very enjoyable, well-written story, with just the right amount of humor to keep the reader smiling at Jessie’s crazy antics. Both Jessie and Nate were wonderful characters and the story line was well paced and interesting. I’m glad to see this is the start of a series and I intend to stick with it. Grab a copy and see if you agree!

What a magnificent start to a new series!!! Demons from Hell are creating havoc in Minneapolis. Nate lived a scheming, selfish life at the turn of the 20th Century but when he died attempting to save someone else, very uncharacteristically, he is given another chance at life and redemption by guarding relics which keep Evil at bay.
Jessie is a law student paying her way through college working at her uncles bar...well she did until some shyster conned him out of it! She has been kept on as her alter ego JBlaze is an expert show-woman mixologist! Her life is looking on the up after a short, passionate encounter with her hunky neighbour Nate, but she never expected to be working for him!!!
Nate and Jessie are flung in at the deep end as the demons begin to plague Jessie's family and friends and before she knows it she is knee deep in demon training! But what's a girl to do when a hunkalicious male keeps telling her she is the one for him but she has self esteem & abandonment issues and is just waiting for the other shoe to drop? Can Nate get Jessie to see herself as he does or will her insecurities tear them apart?
I got totally sucked into this wonderful world and just couldn't put it down. The characters leap off the page and into your brain! The storyline is tight and the passion needs to be measured on the Richter scale. With wonderful secondary characters such as Walt and Tillie and Dante and the other Guardians, all with their own powers to intrigue and on occasion help out! Nate and Jessie are wonderfully pigheaded, stubborn and adorable at the same time. Nate is protective and possessive, everything Jessie wanted but she can't seem to let him in. She in turn only knows THIS Nate giving him the opportunity of a clean start.
Laclan the Incubus had better redeem himself tout suite - I cannot have a fellow Scot as a bad guy!!! I cannot wait to see what happens with Kat and Ari, Nate's fellow guardians, that is going to be steamy when passion meets Kat's ice cold facade and this time he's not going anywhere!

I got totally sucked into this wonderful world and just couldn't put it down. The characters leap off the page and into your brain! The storyline is tight and the passion needs to be measured on the Richter scale. With wonderful secondary characters such as Walt and Tillie and Dante and the other Guardians, all with their own powers to intrigue and on occasion help out! Nate and Jessie are wonderfully pigheaded, stubborn and adorable at the same time. Nate is protective and possessive, everything Jessie wanted but she can't seem to let him in. She in turn only knows THIS Nate giving him the opportunity of a clean start.
Laclan the Incubus had better redeem himself tout suite - I cannot have a fellow Scot as a bad guy!!! I cannot wait to see what happens with Kat and Ari, Nate's fellow guardians, that is going to be steamy when passion meets Kat's ice cold facade and this time he's not going anywhere!

What a magnificent start to a new series!!! Demons from Hell are creating havoc in Minneapolis. Nate lived a scheming, selfish life at the turn of the 20th Century but when he died attempting to save someone else, very uncharacteristically, he is given another chance at life and redemption by guarding relics which keep Evil at bay.
Jessie is a law student paying her way through college working at her uncles bar...well she did until some shyster conned him out of it! She has been kept on as her alter ego JBlaze is an expert show-woman mixologist! Her life is looking on the up after a short, passionate encounter with her hunky neighbour Nate, but she never expected to be working for him!!!
Nate and Jessie are flung in at the deep end as the demons begin to plague Jessie's family and friends and before she knows it she is knee deep in demon training! But what's a girl to do when a hunkalicious male keeps telling her she is the one for him but she has self esteem & abandonment issues and is just waiting for the other shoe to drop? Can Nate get Jessie to see herself as he does or will her insecurities tear them apart?

This is book one in Harley James’ Guardians of Humanity series. This is the first story I’ve read from this author and I really enjoyed it. They style of writing makes the reader feel at ease with the characters and even though they are fanciful there are aspects you can relate to.
Jessica is a low student who works as a bartender at what used to be her Uncles bar. It’s recently been purchased and Jessie wants to bring them down so her Uncle can have his life back. Not everything was running as it should have been though and it’s become a bit of a demon hot spot.
Nate is a guardian. He died more than a hundred years ago and came back with the sole purpose of keeping humans safe by hunting demons. Life as a guardian is rather dull but for some reason Jessie brings colour back into his life. He’s been told he’s experiencing amplio but could it be something more? Could he have found his sole mate in a human?
This story is a bit of a wild ride. There’s so much going on and so many people to keep track of. The relationships between people often cross lines not normally seen and the reader gets a real sense who everyone is and what their purpose is. Everyone has their own role to play. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next. Don’t think this is just a racy romance novel as it’s so much more!

Jessie is a law student and her noisy neighbor bothers her and her dog. One evening she gathers her things and hides her dog in her bag to head out to the library to work in silence when she runs into her neighbor on the sidewalk. Turns out its not him making the noise but his company. He wants to make it up to her by cooking for her so he follows her up to her place. Nate is a Demon Hunter and he is drawn to Jessie and knows that by being around her puts her in danger. He gets Jessie to agree to live with him for a week and he would help her financially. However what neither expected was for it to turn into something more. Will Nate be able to convince Jessie to stay with him? Can they fight the demons together?
This is an amazing paranormal story like no other I've read. I can't wait to read more by this author. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Loved this! Jessie is working to put herself through law school. It's not easy, but she is managing..until the neighbor won't stop banging his headboard against her wall! On her way out to escape the noise, and her burned dinner she runs into Nate, her smoking hot neighbor. Silently relived it is not him making the noise, she tries to leave but he insists on making her dinner. She has no idea who or what he really is, and Nate is determined to make Jessie his, no matter how much she resists! Even as she becomes suspicious of what Nate does, she can't help her reaction to him whenever he is near. I love how the story unfolds as she realizes that there is a whole other world out there, and one that has tainted her family.....love the suspense, intrigue, passion...love the story!

What a brilliant story I loved it. Jessie is wanting to be a prosecutor she needs to study for the exam tomorrow but she’s having trouble with all of the wall banging that’s going on next door so she decides to go out and when she gets outside she runs into Nate and she’s shocked because she thought that it was him but instead Nate offers to make Allison dinner at her place. Nate was a bad guy before he died but he had saved someone so the powers that be gave him a second chance and made him a guardian a demon hunter. Brilliant story I loved the characters and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, it’s a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
