Ok

The title alone had me wanting to read this book. However when reading it I struggled. It was long winded, I mean quella pissed me off with his poetic words, then he switched straight hood. I was so confused. Aniyah also was frustrating to read. She was wish washy, I understood where she was coming from, but she was pissing me off with her actions. To be honest I won’t be reading prt 2. The author could have done better with this book. But I wish him well

Many Betrayals

The storyline was decent, different and broached several topics. The air of suspenseful drama coupled with the twists made it engaging. It needed editing, though. Lots of misused words and misconstructed sentences had me doubling back at points.
It was hard to decide if I liked the main character, Aniyah. She was depicted as naive but I later saw her as an opportunist. She was content with accepting Quella's discretions until she learned she had contracted HIV. Quella was a lying, controlling, manipulative, arrogant cheater. I couldn't figure him out. Did he really want to get married? Amethyst, my word, was so damaged. Shame on her mother for enabling a pedophile and not putting her child first. All of these characters had self esteem issues and were hiding secrets. None of them were likable.
This book is worth reading; personally, I think it could have been stronger. It ended with a sort of cliffhanger. The author left it wide open. I wasn't prepared for that as I thought this was a standalone. Not sure if I would read a sequel, depends on when it's released.

I felt so sad for Aniyah. I wanted to blame Quella for giving her the disease, but was shocked to learn that someone close to Aniyah, was the one who gave it to Quella. Loved the way you used your words and was able to write about subject...most authors don't write about. Good job and can't wait for the part 2!

Wowwww. Was the one word that kept echoing in my head. While the story is billed as one that follows a young naive Aniyah into a coupling that means her no good, the infection is really the star of this story. We watch as it devastates many and helps in a quest for revenge for others. The infection from its inception to where it ultimately lands in one family and those who are connected is what kept me interested. The story flowed well. The supporting characters were interesting and the message was loud and clear. It (the message) is not what you think and I won't spoil it. While Aniyah is not a likable heroine and one that made me want to yell at her..okay I did it on more than one occasion, I appreciated the cultural and social relevance this story will hold. My only complaint is that the author took the scenic route to get to the "good stuff". I was about 74% into the book before I stopped skimming passages that focused on Aniyah... Sorry
