Interesting, well-written and researched but somehow lacking. For someone who was as charismatic and important to the post-war cricket period, there is a lack of anecdote and stories. Bose writes well, but there is an absence of Miller here at times. You want to hear his voice more perhaps. There are some interesting interjections and opinions from those Bose spoke to, but I don't feel enough. It is not a long book, and feels there there is a lot missing.

As it says on the cover, a cricketing biography, and as such a well written and engaging story. However, for such an obviously colourful and charismatic character it is a shame we don’t hear about the man and his life outside cricket.
