This unpulished work started as a one-shot and has grown to a full story at six chapters (as of 1/21/20). In the author's comments, Wade H. states that he is working on a LONGER version that will eventually be posted, so watch for it.

If you have read Netherfield Math by the same author, you have a good idea of the tone he adopts. The one-shot (Chapter One) is Elizabeth's mathematical response to Mr. Collins's marriage proposal, and her reasoning is rather brilliant. Chapter Two follows up as a discussion between her and her sister Mary with more mathematical equations. The sisters are walking toward Meryton at the time, and the chapter ends with a precipitating event that leads the plot in another direction.

At the story's conclusion, two Bennet sisters are betrothed, and another certainly will join them shortly, based on the resolution.

Although not very believable, this is very well written (as Wade H's stories always are) and entertaining.

Rating: Clean, short-one-shot: Hilarious: loved it.

“It is generally recognized that women are better than men at languages, personal relations and multi-tasking, but less good at map-reading and spatial awareness. It is therefore not unreasonable to suppose that women might be less good at mathematics and physics.” –Stephen Hawking

I’m sure you’ve probably heard of Mannheim Steamroller, the music group… well, let me introduce you to Elizabeth ‘Steamroller’ Bennet. OMG! This was hilarious. Mr. Collins was in the throes of his proposal when Elizabeth interrupted him. From that point on, she had the floor. Wade does the best ‘steamroller dialogue’ EVER. That is the best way to describe what was happening on the page. It was hilarious. Poor Mr. Collins didn’t stand a chance.

Elizabeth with parchment and pen added up the costs and expenses for Mr. Collins and helped him find an appropriate helpmeet. LOL!! What a scream. I loved how she just mowed him down and solved all his problems in one fell swoop.

Wade signed off with: ‘Finis (maybe)’ which might indicate something else. I hope not. It was cute just as it was. *** I was right *** Wade added five more chapters that were cute as a bug and ended with chapter 6 that was so swoon-worthy it nearly melted my reading device. Oh, heavy sigh. I loved that declaration from Darcy and Elizabeth’s epiphany moment that just sealed the deal. Wow!!

“Women have a passion for mathematics. They divide their age in half, double the price of their clothes, and always add at least five years to the age of their best friend.” –Marcel Achard

1st read 1-12-20
2nd read 1-14-20 read it again so I could write a review now that there is a link on GR
1-16-20 ~ 1-21-20 Wade added additional chapters. He has temporarily marked this as complete until he changes it. He marked it at Finis (Ending 1).

Wade took a poll and asked his readers if they wanted a long version or a short version of the story. The vote was for a long version. So, Wade backed up and rewrote the ending chapters and added a dozen more chapters. He is currently at chapter 29 and has left us with a cliffhanger.

Arithmetic is where numbers fly like pigeons in and out of your head. ~ Carl Sandburg

What is a logical-minded young lady to do when approached with a proposal of marriage from a nonsensical man?

Make a balance sheet, of course!

Elizabeth hears the proposal from Rev. Collins; then picks up pen and paper and budgets his income for the next twenty years. Of course, it is obvious that she must be completely in charge of financial affairs. Is this something Mr. Collins can accept? Would a different bride be more to his liking?

Another of this author’s off-beat undertakings, this is a very short unpublished story – which might have a few additional chapters later. It can be found here:

Arithmetic is numbers you squeeze from your head to your hand to your pencil to your paper till you get the answer. ~ Carl Sandburg

So far Wade has posted 29 chapters with an indication that there will be 2 or 3 more chapter. While the first several chapters were written as a short story and are complete as such he soon decided to expand on that and went off in another direction. However, he continues to use math or references to math in most chapters.

This story started as a one shot and expanded to be quite long.

Elizabeth looks at the world through the lens of math. It centers her and calms her down. Those her love her know this and help her along using this method. It creates some very interesting situations and wonderful set downs!

What I loved was that by using math, situations were are evaluated logically. Which in some cases helps and in some cases hinders. It also puts Elizabeth in the position of being a "mirror" which I won't spoil for the reader, but hit a chord with me personally.

There are lots of changes to the cannon story line, driven by logic, but in the end our dear couple finds their happily ever after with a much better understanding of each other.

Elizabeth bamboozles Mr. Collins during the course of his proposal to her the day after the Netherfield Ball. She does this by working out the equivalent of a profit and loss account for his future household expenses. Does this convince him she's not a suitable candidate? Read it and find out! If you're a fan of Wade's writing, you'll love this. It's his usual 'off the wall' type of writing that often occurs in his one-shot pieces, although he says in his AN that there may be another chapter or two.

EDIT: so far, in what the author calls his "short" version, there are six chapters. Review to be updated if a longer version is posted.
