In search of Hugo and a reincarnated monk, Nick Barnette and company make their way to the Island Kingdom of Jonang.
At least that’s the plan.
Their ship is attacked, leading to an epic fight that separates Nick's party.
Things only get more complicated once they arrive on the island and find that a newly crowned emperor has wreaked havoc on the natives, an emperor Nick is intimately familiar with.
It’s going to take all the runes Nick has learned plus a deeper knowledge of his own ability if he hopes to best the emperor and find the reincarnated monk, and that’s not to mention the wind spirits, sea dragons, armed soldiers, flaming skulls, and demons he’ll be forced to engage along the way.
With little time to continue cultivating and understanding his power, Nick must rely on his friends, his own intuition, his unique time abilities, and a good amount of luck to save the day, especially once a fleet of warships from Lhasa make landfall.

I finished this book awhile back and blame The Rona for making me forget to write about my experience. Yeah, pretty thin excuse. Overall, I think I enjoyed this book the most. Perhaps it was more action and less world-building? I don’t know. I just remember reading at a faster pace near the end then- poof! The End.
I can’t get into the end of this installment because – well, spoilers. I can only say I enjoyed the multiple fight sequences. It gets bloody.
This (third in series) continues the character development and you can see even more of a ‘team atmosphere” at play.

To say that I love this series would be an understatement of the highest magnitude. I had never heard of wuxia or xianxia before reading the first book, but this is right up my alley. I love the fact that this is the author's heart, soul, and personal experiences of life on a page. I know that this where writers get their stories from, but you can almost 'sense' it in this series a bit more than the others, I think. Perhaps that's just my personal impression, but I'm standing by it.
The storyline held my attention all the way through, and I am interested in, and have grown to care for, Nick and the other characters. It's an entertaining, action-packed, funny, emotive, and educational read, and the back of the book stuff is hilariously eye-opening.
Saying that Nick goes through trials and tribulations is like saying that there were a few drops of rain when Noah invited the animals on his ark. The author writes very well and imaginatively, and it's easy to follow the friends' Paths as they continue forward. Their journey is never straightforward, just like life itself. It's full of people's interpretations of what being handed power looks like and feels like, mostly to others. However, the powerful rarely think about anyone else than themselves. That's a sweepingly general statement, but there's truth in there. There are some cracking surprises between these pages, of which I am telling you nothing. You should read and experience it for yourselves.
I chose this book from a selection, then voluntarily read and honestly reviewed it. All opinions are my own.
It's nice to see this genre is becoming more popular as it brings us back to the days of proper Kung Fu and spiritualism. This is another chapter in our story as levelling up skills by dedication and runes is slowly paying off on our paths to enlightenment. Cooper keeps us guessing all the time with this as we never see just how good / evil become are they just the different sides of the coin or are they seperate what choices we make affect how we are treated and can we be good and still win. The moral path is slippy and no more so than for NIck as each path leads to heartache and strife as the way to peace isn't easy. This is central to the books theme and keeps us engaged in the book and thinking whilst turning pages till the end.
Way if the Immortals 3 is a nonstop action adventure on an alien world with elements from Asian mythology. For those who read the first two books, this book paced more like the first book. For those who haven’t read the first couple books, I think this book could be enjoyed independently, but it is far better with the background the other books provide.
Contains graphic violence and sexual content.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
The story went in a direction I was not expecting.
I was given a advance copy of this book for a honest review. Overall the book was good and I enjoyed the progression of the characters. I enjoyed how the supporting characters are being developed instead of just being a placeholder. I give it a 4.5out of 5.
I did not enjoy this book as much as the previous two in the series. In fact I lost interest about half way through the book and only finished because at that stage I’ve obviously read the previous two books so I had to finish this one as well, but it became a little repetitive and boring.
Much faster paced than the previous books, but in a good way. The action just keeps flowing, ramping up to an ending that was both expected and unexpected. Great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next one!
This is a good book. You should read it. I like the story. The characters are fun. This world continues to grow. There is good leveling and character growth.
