About the author

Kenneth Norman Lilly won a scholarship to study animal painting and anatomy at art college.

He contributed wildlife paintings to a variety of magazines such as 'Look and Learn' and 'Treasure'.

In addition he wrote, and illustrated, a number of natural history books himself such as 'Some Birds and Mammals of the Woodland', 'Some Birds and Mammals of the Field and Hedgerow' and 'Some Mammals of the Riverbank' - all of those three for The Medici Society.

He was married with two daughters and a son.

This gorgeous book as life sized, lovely illustrations of night time animals.

It makes me flip between: Wow! The royal antelope is so tiny! Wow! The giant toad is so huge!

There are brief descriptions of each animal on each page, and more detailed information at the back of the book.

This was a favorite childhood book. The pictures are fantastic and really life-size.
