Princes of Hollywood #3

His Little Barmaid

Rate this book
I thought the closest I’d ever come to having my teenage obsession in bed was lying under his poster...

Instead of serving cocktails in a karaoke joint, this broke little barmaid is finally moving up in the world.
I’ve just been cast in a movie starring my celebrity crush Derek Prince.
The man who was only ever a fantasy is suddenly a very real, off-limits temptation.
And I'm drawing his gaze while shaking my sequined-covered butt for the cameras.
And for him.

But Derek's jealous costar is intent on having him onscreen and off.
To get this shot at my dream, I promised to be her secret voice double.
I also promised her that I’d stay away from Derek.
He’s everything I’ve ever wanted, but she has me by the literal—and legal—throat.

Only Derek’s a certified quadruple threat of his own.
He can sing, dance, act, and charm the panties off me without breaking a sweat.
Handsome. Knockout sexy. And relentless in his pursuit of what he wants.

After always wanting to be part of his world, he wants to be a part of mine.
But lies, secrets, and blackmail are everywhere around us.
How can we get to happy ever after when all of Hollywood is hell-bent on keeping us apart?

I read an advanced copy for an honest review.
Ariel, the barmaid, dreams of being a star while working at her Uncle Sebastian's karaoke bar.

After singing for the crowd, Ursula the witch (with a "B"), a famous hollywood movie star wants Ariel's voice. Not literally (like Disney), but for Ariel to record and Ursula to Lipsync in the musical she is starring in. She promises Ariel money and a role as a dancer, so she can get some SAG credit. It's their secret.

That same night, Ariel meets a Prince. Derek Prince to be exact. He's just jumped into her moving car to escape a mob of women harassing him. Ariel has always had a crush on him and Dereck is intriged by this beautiful, interesting woman.

The story then becomes a rollercoaster ride of romance, blackmail and pressure from Ariel's parents. Can Ariel and Dereck survive everything that is thrown at them? Is the pressure cooker of Hollywood going to beat Ariel down?

In a great Hollywood ending that is reminiscent of the classic movie "Singing in the Rain", all questions are answered and the storyline is settled in a satisfacty manor that will have you sighing.

I am so loving this series by Ms. Holloway.  Each story has a different Prince brother meeting his "princess".

This is a fun twist on "The Little Mermaid" set in Hollywood.

This is Derek and Ariel's story and what an angsty, heartfelt story it is.

Derek Prince is part of the legendary family of Hollywood royalty.  He is a triple threat, he acts, sings and dances.  The world is his oyster and when he finds Ariel (a fabulous meet-cute by the way) he has found his pearl.

Ariel is trying hard to find her place in the Hollywood machine.  When an opportunity comes to work with some A-list actors, including Derek, she wants to jump at the opportunity, but at what cost to her?

I enjoy the writing style that Ms. Holloway has.  Her characters are bold and upfront. Our heroine is no shrinking violet and she is not clueless on what is going on in her world.  But she also has a vulnerability that is beautiful.

This world that Ms. Halloway has created in this series is fantastic!! I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

His costar has Ariel doing her voice over and has her sworn to secrecy. Derek is noticing her more and wants to get to know her but it seems everyone wants them apart. Will they take a chance and go for it and get a HEA?

Good clean fun with some dirty moments! Taylor Holloway's Hollywood fairy tale retellings are freaking great. You can tell that there has been a lot of time and planning going into the stories and how they all play out. They are entertaining, a breath of fresh air, with quite a few twists and turns. If you are looking for a funny, sweet, and a little dirty romance that is a retelling of one of our favorite Disney princesses, I HIGHLY recommend His Little Barmaid. I am totally addicted to this series, is the author putting catnip in between the pages?!?! 4.5 outta 5 stars from me and already ready for the next one!

PS: Thank you to Taylor Holloway and Candi Kane PR for allowing me an advanced copy of to the book to read and review honestly!

Hollywood shenanigans and lies
4.5
Good romantic story, very well written, sometimes hot, but it is mainly the melodramatic twists and the manipulations around the characters that guide the romance.
Derek, an actor whom we have already met in previous episodes as Tommy's twin, seeks by all means to conquer Ariel, a waitress with singer talents. However, she has just been secretly hired to dub the voice of his partner Ursula, in the movie they are filming together. Derek does not support Ursula, but Ursula has the talent to blackmail everyone to get what she wants. She manipulates both Derek and Ariel, which makes the relationship of the latter two very difficult to maintain.

This is the third book in the Princes of Hollywood series that I have read, and I must say it is my favorite so far. I found myself thinking of it all the time and looking for opportunities to read. The intrigue just kept me going and going, turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. I enjoyed every bit of it and loved the ending.
I know very little about LA and the Hollywood scene, but I found all the details about what goes on in a movie production to be very believable. I have heard about the bullying that goes on behind the scenes, but this story showed how real that can be.
I just love to read books in a series and how the characters you meet in one book pop up in others. That being said, any of the books in this series could be read as a standalone. I am already looking forward to the next one.

This book is as usual a great book by Taylor Holloway..
I understand the story very much.. cuz my parents also try to dictate my decisions..
Areil wants to be a Hollywood star but her parents want her to follow their footstep.. So when she is given an opportunity, she takes it but if she knew she digging her own grave..
Derek meets Ariel while he was trying to escape from drunken fans. He ends up feeling attracted to Areil..
But there is blackmailing and a lot trouble ahead of them... at last they have their happy ending.. there are 2 twists in the stories...
In short it is a good book

Hollywood Meets The Little Mermaid

Who doesn't enjoy fairy-tales? Luckily we don't have to give them up just because we grew up. Now we have the "adult" versions. This series by Ms. Holloway has fed both my inner child and inner vixen. This addition is "The Little Mermaid" meets Hollywood. That means we get the "usual" Hollywood vices...blackmail, backstabbing, pushy family and mobs of fans. Will this Prince get his pearl?

I am loving Taylor's take on tales with Prince Charming! The Prince in this story is one of the handsome and talented Prince Family. This is Derek's story. He can act, he can sing, he can dance. Ariel wants to do the same. I know I always say these books are so good I can't put them down but this time? I stayed in one spot all night because I really truly could not put it down!

While this is book 4 in the series it can definitely be a stand alone!

This book was such a rollercoaster! I loved Ariel and Derek and the lengths they had to go to for their relationship. This book was definitely a romantic suspense book filled with Hollywood blackmail, fake relationships, and everything else and I loved it. The drama was perfect, not too overdone and I was sucked in immediately! Ariel and Derek had so many outside forces controlling their relationship and feelings and I loved watching them work through them! I cannot wait for Holden's book but I do hope we see more of the previous characters than we did in this book!

HIS LITTLE BARMAID by Taylor Holloway is the story of Ariel and Derek.
Ariel wants to break into Hollywood but is working at a karaoke bar. When she is offered a voice over part for Ursula a actress, who wants to lip-sync to Ariel's voice. This could be a break she needs to get ahead but it might not be either. Then Ariel meets ...or runs into Derek a very famous/popular actor who Ariel has been crushing on. Of course he is attracted to her but things don't go to easy for them.
Enjoyed their story.

This is such an awesome book that I enjoyed reading. The story and character building were off the characters and had me reading into the late hours of the night, I couldn't put it down. It's full of emotion, drama, action, chemistry, steam, hot alpha male, and hot and steamy romance. The chemistry between the characters is amazing and the story line was fantastic, it's a definite must read for any fan and I can't wait to read more form this author!!!

The story started off a little slow to my liking but I have to say it turned around once Ariel and Derek met. The chemistry that these two characters shared made it a whole lot sweeter to read. With the ups and downs of this book it’s hard to say what was my favorite part. I liked the references between the Disney fairytale and this story. Glad I was able to have the chance to read another book in this series. Can’t wait for the next one!

I have to hand it to Taylor Holloway, she reimagined the Little Mermaid into a storyline that works with a modern Hollywood setting. It’s original but still has plenty of references to the beloved story. This series as a whole hasn’t been my favorite, but this is one of the stronger entries. It’s still a little over the top with issues along the way, but there were definitely things that I liked.

The story follows Ariel, an aspiring singer/actress who agrees to do the vocals behind the scenes for a well known actress (Ursula, of course), not realizing the ramifications of her actions. When she meets Derek, the star of the musical, they hit it off immediately. But drama quickly gets in the way - Derek’s fake relationship with Ursula and Ariel’s secret - and their budding relationship is tested.

I didn’t love it; I didn’t hate it. I’ve definitely read better by Holloway but I’ve also read worse. If you’re looking for a quick, light read with plenty of references to the Little Mermaid and a Hollywood feel, you might enjoy this. I didn’t really get invested in the couple at all, mostly just enjoyed the hints of The Little Mermaid and how well it worked in this scenario. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review of this modern fairytale.

Ms. Halloway has again entertained us with her twist on a fairy tale.and another. Derek Prince is another of the Hollywood Prince royalty. Ariel works at her uncles karaoke bar but dreams of making it big in Hollywood. She unfortunately makes a deal with Derek’s co-star, Ursula, to use her voice but agrees to never disclose she is the one singing. This sets up Ursula blackmailing both Derek and Ariel. I loved the east and fast flow of the story and kept me turning the page.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review and look forward to see who the next Prince gets a story. Can’t wait!

If you love The Little Mermaid and Hollywood romance stories, this is the perfect combination. Derek and Ariel's story is amazing, full of angst and emotions. An A-list actor meets a new actress that is trying to find her way in Hollywood. It was fun to read and found this retelling quite enjoyable. Looking forward for more from the author.

His Little Barmaid was a fun retelling of The Little Mermaid. Ariel is trying to get her big Hollywood break while working at her uncle’s karaoke bar. Derek is a Hollywood leading man who is triple threat and is working on a big Hollywood musical. When Ariel makes a deal with Derek’s leading lady in the musical, Ursula, in order for Ariel to get her big break, trouble ensues.

Derek and Ariel are both very likeable characters and I found myself rooting for them to overcome all the odds against them. There is blackmail galore. Ursula is like her namesake and I couldn’t wait for her deviousness to be revealed.

The author did a great job retelling The Little Mermaid while putting her own spin on it. It was a fun, easy read with plenty of romance. There’s enough angst in the book to give it depth and Derek and Ariel are a match made “under the sea.”

This Little Mermaid retelling was clever. I love how the author gives the fairytales a Hollywood remake. It featured everything Hollywood is known for: secrets, rumors, paparazzi, lies, deceit. The Prince family seems to be made up of un-Hollywood like types, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with for the next Prince brother.

His Little Barmaid is a cute modern day version of the The Little Mermaid. The story line has the right amount of sweet and drama. I loved Derek and Ariel! Their meet-cute is the best. They have instant chemistry and are perfect for each other but have a bit of blackmail to overcome before they can be together. This is a quick read that make you smile.

Ariel works at Sebastian's her uncle's karaoke bar and after singing one night she is propositioned by Ursula Jones an actress who wants to claim Ariel's voice as her own and have Ariel record and sing for her in an upcoming musical that she is filming. Later that night as she is leaving the bar Ariel ends up unwittingly rescuing her childhood crush Derek Prince an actor. Derek is immediately taken with Ariel and asks her out to dinner but she is hesitant and says no.
The two of them are now working on a film together Derek and Ursula as the leads and Ariel as a chorus girl. The attraction between the two grows but the studio wants Derek and Ursula to be a couple to help promote the movie. Only problem is that Derek can't stand Ursula. When he leaves his set-up date with Ursula to go see Ariel and is caught, he is forced to pretend he's in a relationship with Ursula in exchange for the story of Ariel him being together never getting out. Ursula blackmails him demanding he not see Ariel again and at first he complies but soon he and Ariel start seeing each other in secret.
More blackmail occurs and Ursula and members of the cast and crew start spreading rumors and tormenting Ariel. Ursula wants Derek for herself for real and is willing to do anything to make that happen. Ariel is more confused than ever about what she is being told by Ursula and starts to wonder if she's just really Derek's side chick. Things only become worse when Ursula and Derek pretend to be engaged and compromising photos of Ariel are threatened to be released by Ursula if Derek doesn't go along with the fake engagement.
Ariel tells Derek that she is Ursula's singing voice and swears him to secrecy but soon all the lies and secrets are brought to light and the couple must face the fallout and get revenge on those responsible.
This book was a lot more complex than I thought it was going to be. I loved the beginning of the book how much chemistry and attraction there was for Derek and Ariel. Their banter was hilarious and it was clear they really cared about each other right away. Derek could have handled things much better but in the end he made up for it by exposing Ursula and the others involved. He tried to protect Ariel and she also tried to protect him and his family. They were a strong couple that endured a lot in this book.

His Little Barmaid is a great twist on a classic fairy-tale. I loved how all the key parts of the story were related back to the Little Mermaid, with the villain Ursula, the helpful friend Sebastian and Ariel with her beautiful voice which was stolen from her.

Ariel dreams of making it in Hollywood. Singing, dancing and acting is her passion, so one night when working at Sebastian's karaoke bar, she sings and catches the attention of Ursula. Ursula needs Ariel's voice for her latest musical movie and in return will give her a chorus girl part, but it must remain a total secret that Ursula isn't singing her own parts. Ariel, eager to have her foot in the door of Hollywood movies accepts and signs immediately on the dotted line.

After a chance encounter, she meets Derek Prince, the male lead in the movie, and her crush since she was a teenager. There spark is instant and they are keen to see where it goes, but Ursula and the production company have other ideas. Drama ensues, with sabotage happening left, right and centre, secrets being kept and blackmail being handed out. Will Ariel and Derek be able to get through the hard times and come out stronger and as a couple in the end? Or will Ursula win and drive them apart? Will Ariel ever get her voice back and the recognition she deserves?

This was such a fun read, with lots of twists and turns, drama and a lot of love too! It's such a clever adaptation and I will be reading the other modern day fairy-tales in this series as soon as I can!
