I loved this book! And I didn't even have the latest edition (this is the 7th edition, not the 9th). Borrowed it at my local library before driving through Kansas. Enjoyed the hints so much, I want to buy all the latest editions of my state (Colorado) and any neighboring states. And that's a high recommendation indeed.

Although I already had a general idea of the places I wanted to visit on my Kansas road trip, this book steered me to a few more along the way (Council Grove, Yoder, and the Gypsum Hills scenic byway). Not only that, the driving directions actually worked! The motel recommendations at the back of each section were also very helpful.

I wonder if all the Off the Beaten Path books are as good? Because this one is a winner!

This was glossy brochure to sell things and nothing else. Not to mention they missed SO many good landmarks it started to piss me off.

This book gives you an idea of the best places to see in Kansas and shows there are places to go that are not flat.

You can attend a “twine party” in Cawker City to make the world’s largest ball of twine (almost nine tons).

Go on a retreat to the Dominican Sisters’ Heartland Farm and try your hand at organic gardening and holistic healing

Then sample some of the twenty-eight wines produced at Smoky Hill Vineyards and Winery in Salina.

We are driving through the state to go to Colorado.

The book did a good job showing places to stay, information on a fort to visit and unique natural sites like Mushroom Rock State Park, which we hope to stop at.

This is a good book to turn to no matter which part of the state you are going to.
