The MisreadBible #2

A Misreadbible Christmas

Rate this book
The Nativity

During the reign of King Herod of Judaea, an unwed teenage virgin called Mary is impregnated with a magical baby by the Holy Spirit. This doesn’t sit well with her fiancé Joseph so naturally he dumps her. When the couple reconcile, they have to travel to Bethlehem for a preposterous census, and Mary ends up giving birth in a stable. Meanwhile, a group of stargazing magi, who come traipsing hundreds of miles after a star, inadvertently inform the king of Judaea of the Messiah’s birth.

Herod’s Christmas Carol

King Herod, the infamous baby massacring tyrant of the nativity, is recast as Scrooge. On the day that would come to be known as Christmas Eve, he is haunted by the ghost of his dead wife Mariamne who has come to deliver a warning. He is visited by three further spirits who take him on a journey to his past, present, and future. Will the king heed the spirits’ message and mend his ways, or will he forever be the villain that the Bible portrays him to be?

Bonus

Parodies of A Visit from St. Nicholas and a selection of Christmas carols, and some nativity themed tweets.

After having read and liked the tweets of J.R. Eldridge, couldn't wait to read this book.
Thankfully, he gave me a free copy to read and review.
It's funny, a bit silly and really does make you think on how messed up the whole Christmas story is.

Will definitely be getting some strange looks when singing along to carols this year....... oh dear.

You know Python and Carrey and Mercer and Carlin,
you know Seinfeld and Benny and Pryor and Beaverton,
But do you recall
The most famous comic of all?
Misread the Red-Nosed comic
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows.
All of the other writers
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Misread
Join in any comic games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Kim Aaron came to say,
Misread with your nose so bright,
Won't you sign your book tonight
Then how all the comics loved him,
As they shouted out with glee,
Misread the red-nose writer
You'll go down in history

Merry Misread Christmas, Merry Misread Christmas, one and all!
