Snowberry #4

April Melody

Rate this book
April Melody loved her job as bookkeeper and hostess of Kiss’s Café in Snowberry, Minnesota. What she didn’t love was having to hide who she was on the inside, because of what people saw on the outside. April may not be able to hear them, but she could read the lies on their lips.

Martin Crow owns Crow’s Hair and Nails, an upscale salon in the middle of bustling Snowberry. Crow hid from the world in the tiny town, and focused on helping women find their inner goddess. What he wasn’t expecting to find was one of Snowberry’s goddesses standing outside his apartment door.

Drawn together by their love of music, April and Crow discover guilt and hatred will steal their future. Together they learn to let love and forgiveness be the melody and harmony in their hearts.

I have read several Katie Mettner books and I can truly say that each one is special in its own way. This one, however, won me over. April and Crow's story is touching and tearful, joyful and humbling, with messages of love and forgiveness, overcoming physical issues and finding perfect love in imperfect situations. There are a few scenes that will stay with me for a very long time; two in particular - when April falls in the lake, and when Crow seeks out Jake's father. I won't go into detail regarding them because when you read the book I want the full impact to hit you like they did me. The road to true and unconditional love in Ms. Mettner's books are always paved with phenomenal emotional conflicts - generated in part by physical conflicts - that her characters have to rectify together in order to get their happily-ever-after. On a side note: I have a nephew who is deaf so I was interested in how Ms. Metter would handle April's impairment. I believe she did an awesome job conveying the struggles and reality of the disability. In the case of Crow's impairment, she also did an excellent job with details that can only come from either having known someone with similar circumstances or in depth research.

April Melody: A Snowberry Easter (The Snowberry Series Book 4) by Katie Mettner

April Melody is insecure about her medical condition, always feeling as if she has to hide who she really is. Martin Crow also has a medical secret he tries to conceal. The two meet and have a mutual attraction.

As time goes by their love grows and a near near tragedy occurs. Martin will do anything to protect April and she feels the same about him. Both have insecurities and each seems to bring out the best in the other they make the perfect pair.

A compelling story with two young people struggling to accept who they are. April is very likable, kind caring and compassionate. Martin is equally likable. I loved how he wanted to protect April in every way possible, despite his own struggles.

April Melody: A Snowberry Easter is story of insecurities, love, family, friendship and hope. I was drawn in from the first page until the end. I highly recommend to those who love a great Romance.

Emotional, lovely, steamy, sweet, and soul enriching pretty much covers Katie Mettner's Snowberry series, oh and so much faith if you don't believe you might just be ready to take the leap after one of her stories. April Melody is my favorite in the bunch. Crow stole my heart, made me smile, cry, cheer, and hope. I just loved it.

I fell in love with April and Crow, two young adults trying to hide their disabilities from the world and each other, almost immediately. I especially enjoyed their slow burn relationship. Seeing them both come out of their shells and find their "person" eas just beautiful. It made me smile (a lot), laugh, and cry. I worked with a lot of kids with disabilities in my career and I hope that they love themselves and find love like April and Crow. I'm eager to read more of the Snowberry series!

I have been enjoying the Snowberry Series and #4 April Melody was no exception. April and Crow won me over and had me cheering them on as they work to accept who they are. Their friendship and chemistry was something many strive to have. This is a sweet story and a quick, fun read.

This is the 4th book in the Snowberry series. It is the story of April Melody, who is deaf and hairstylist/musician Crow who has a tracheostomy: two imperfect people who are perfect for each other.

DNF at 77%. If you're not a 'christian', be aware that this book is very much a christian romance, complete with church services, sermons, prayers, etc. If you *ARE* a christian, be aware that the behaviors and opinions stated in this book are NOT scripturally sound, and in some cases are blatantly flying in the face of the Bible it claims to tout.

*spoilers, from here on out*

Our hero is 'pansexual', which means he doesn't see people as man or woman, and falls in love with whatever floats his boat. The heroine, an ex-christian singer whose songwriter father has corroborated with the likes of Rich Mullins, tells him people are mean to pansexuals (and the LBGT community) not because of personal choice, but because of demonic possession - pg 105 (!?!!?) People apparently don't sin of themselves, it's because Satan controls them. NOT scriptural.

Also on page 105, it says that God cannot control Satan. Excuse me?! Really. Wow, what a wimp of a God, this author serves. Why would anyone settle for second best, if Satan is out of His control? I was absolutely floored.

If I hadn't already been completely irate from this, I think the fornication (sex out of wedlock) sent me over the edge. NOT something that should be taking place in a 'christian' novel.

And I'm not even a Christian. This book is a PRIME example of why.
