I enjoyed this, even though I didn't know it was a series. It was beautifully written.

First I didn't realize that this was part of a series and may go back and check the other three out. This one Set in South Africa, introduce two families and both of them have family issues. The first couple Monica and her husband Zac has two adopted children by Monica wants one of her own and found out after trying several try's the the procedures wasn't working. One of her adopted son's came to America and lived with a family for an year - lots of changes and the younger one was giving a part in a motion picture. Interesting from all the travels and doctor visits this couple must have been well off. No matter in the end when she gave up realizing she had a family was able to have a child.
The other couple Francina has an adopted child as well and this child according to their custom felt obligated to take care one of her ailing relatives. Wow, and then Francina was able to help his girl child bring her ailing relative and family to their village and it ending with her cousin having a job and saving at least one of her boys from the street. I was looking for more dialog since these couples were white - what adjustments did the children undergo how did community feel - although they were better off based on the poverty described in the book I like how the author showed the love between the couples and the adopted children. It was a good read

Set in South Africa, Fly Away Home is the story of two families dealing with family issues. Monica and her husband Zac have two adopted children, but want one of their own. Monica's friend, Francina, also has an adopted child who feels obligated to care for a sick aunt. I found this book simplistic and superficial. Hoping for a flavor of South Africa through a good story, I was disappointed on both accounts. The language is bland and never draws you into the setting, plot, or characters.

Well, I didn't realize this was book #4, though I don't really think I missed too much there in the middle. Pretty good, but ties up way too nicely in the end. Not much of a "thinking" book - more of a "brain candy" type of thing.

Just ok. I learned a bit about South Africa in the process of the story and I admit the storyline had promise but the way in which the author tells it lacked zest or creativity. I didn't realize it was a series and that actually didn't affect it. You can read it easily as a stand alone.

Definitely not the best one in the series. In fact, it felt like an afterthought and like the author was rushing things. Characters' personalities were still consistent, though, so that was good. But the first two books were the best of the series, for sure.

The end of the series, which has nicely wrapped up the lives of the inhabitants of the town of lady Helen, in South Africa . It was a fun series to read, full of great characters and their friendships..
