Audiobook narrated by Celeste Lawson and borrowed from the National Library for the Blind and Print Disabled.
A collection of stories about the training and uses of service dogs. 🦮 Mainly dealing with sight and mobility issues, but some touching on PTSD, neurological syndromes etc. Also SAR and Cadaver dogs get some mention, as does legal issues.
As a former guide dog user, I'm always interested in the many roles of the dog in providing service to people. The title of this book implies that it has many stories from a range of different service dog types. This is partly true. While there are a few stories featuring dogs for veterans and people who are deaf, a vast majority of the stories were about guide dogs. In addition, the perspectives of the authors ranged from those who gave an accurate portrayal of life with a guide dog and the related benefits, there were other authors who gushed about their dogs and who I felt went on a bit too long about how amazing they thought their dogs were. This book gets an average rating from me for the fact that there were not as many stories about other service dogs. On the other hand, if you're wanting a book with 80% or more of stories about guide dogs and their benefits, then this might be a good read.
