She got her happily ever after. What came next? If she tries very hard, Ami can remember when she used to have a dynamic and exciting career and a husband who she loved more than life itself, and who was equally smitten with her... Now she has two children, a terrifyingly large mortgage, and no idea who she has become – or why she and her husband can't even be in the same room anymore. With life as she knew it in tatters around her, Ami is heartbroken, and in no way pulling off 'consciously uncoupling' like a celeb. But as she begins the exhausting task of balancing work, motherhood and singledom, she starts to wonder. Might she just come out the other side and be... happier? As funny as Sophie Kinsella, as poignantly touching as Marian Keyes, Fiona Perrin's hilarious debut is an unmissable story for modern women everywhere. Previously published as The Story After Us. How Not to Get Divorced by Fiona Perrin is an emotional rollercoaster. I was laughing out loud, happy, sad, angry...a little bit of everything. I love how Fiona is so honest and real; her writing style is like interacting with a friend. I enjoyed how the present (2017) tied together with their beginning (2007), allowing us to see the changes of their relationship. This book is a solid 5 stars.
Imogen Church is, as always, so amazing. She gives it her all every time, embodying the characters she portrays flawlessly.
How Not to Get Divorced by Fiona Perrin. Have just finished Fionas other book and it was just as good as the first book. Although it took a bit longer for me to read than normal, I loved the book and was interested to see what would happen for Ami, will her and Lars go ahead with the divorce? Or will they rebuild their relationship for the sake of the children, Tessa and Finn? Will Ami manage to save her agency...? Its all behind that beautiful book cover 💓
Maybe I shouldn't have read this one 3 weeks before my wedding, whilst being away for work. Really well written story. It just seemed to hit differently with everything going on at the moment.
