Colette Baron-Reid is an internationally renowned intuitive counselor, educator and best selling Hay House author who helps others recognize and connect with their own intuition, potential and purpose. Powerful motivational speaker, charismatic broadcast personality, and acclaimed performer, storyteller and recording artist, Colette uses her extraordinary spiritual gifts to empower her clients to live a life that is ‘awake and authentic’ and to create a reality that is spiritual, deliberate and meaningful.
The author writes in the introduction, "Because of the changing landscape within the dialogue regarding women's rights, women's issues, and the misuse of patriarchal power, I began to feel a strong calling to express this theme in my work." Yet despite this goal, the artist Baron-Reid then chose to work with drew every single goddess with a slender build. Not one of them has a larger build. Furthermore, some of the goddesses from non-European cultures still ended up with very Caucasian looking features. This is an unacceptable way of bowing to societal pressures and demands about what goddesses and therefore women "should" look like to be acceptable. Why were women/goddesses not depicted in a way that represented the beauty of all women across the body/beauty spectrum?
Packaging and quality of materials and design are superb. The cards come in a separate box inside a larger box with the book, that's so good for somebody who works with the cards all the time. I am a holistic therapist and I find the book and the cards really beautiful with deep messages to help us connect with the divine energy inside us. As a Mexican writer says, artists help us tidy up our emotions and soul. Colette's work is excellent doing the reasearch about goddesses from different cultures. Art work gives extra light and power to the set. It's the perfect deck for Holistic Tarot and for spiritual tribes of women seeking their inner wisdom.
"You have the magical, feminine, divine energy of the creator goddess Shakti to help you..."
I enjoyed the different goddesses and the artwork. I'm not a fan of Colette's alignment messages, but it may be because I'm coming from a past in fundamentalism where there were a lot of critical messages.
