Want to enjoy your boat, visit awesome destinations, and skip the stress? Then be sure NOT to use any of the "handy tips" mentioned here. Author, sailor, and host of the How Not To Sail Podcast Bradford Rogers shares with you some of his easily-won but hard to forget advice with equal measures of wide-eyed befuddlement and extra-dry humor. (Shaken AND stirred.)
Let's get one thing straight: I am not a cruiser. I'm not particularly interested in the boat life (though I did spend a week on the Jolly II Rover in the Florida Keys a couple of years ago with the Boy Scouts, but that's a different story). The main thing is, though, I've known Bradford Rogers since high school, which is a long time. And the voice of Bradford Rogers in How Not To Sail is the voice of Brad Rogers I remember from Lakeside High School way back in the early 80's - witty, irreverent, and smart. It's why we were friends then, and it's why I continue to consider him a friend now, though I haven't seen him in person in, oh, 35 years or so. Maybe we'll have to fix that.
Loved this book! I read this after finding the How not to sail Podcast. Bradford is a wonderful storyteller and it does not take long to be drawn into the story. I feel as if I traveled every mile of his sailing journey with him. Great fun read!
I really really enjoyed this book. I could relate to so much of was was said. Then the parts of the book that cover details of cruising SW Florida, I plan to re-read when I get a chance ti head there.
