Another delicious tale set in romantic Italy from the #1 bestselling author of THE SUMMER VILLA & SUMMER IN SORRENTO (soon to be a Netflix Original TV series).
Three women arrive on the sun-kissed island of Sicily to attend a renowned cookery getaway promising delicious food, breathtaking scenery and a taste of Italian culture.
Kate hopes the short break will take her mind off her infertility problems and help her come to terms with the fact that she may never be a mum. Martha is in Sicily against her will. The trip was a 50th birthday gift from her children, all of whom have now fled the nest. With the family gone and nobody left to mother, she hopes to rediscover some of her zest for life.
Travel writer Olivia is there to write a feature on the famed cookery break hosted by Chef Isabella in the beautiful old town of Taormina. She is cynical but intrigued to find out what makes previous guests rave about the getaway. Is it the food, the location and the incredible scenery?
Or is there an alchemy about Chef Isabella herself, and the Italian woman's instinctive way of knowing that her students require more than cultural or culinary knowledge, but a balm to their weary souls...
The second best of the four stories in this book collection. I quite enjoyed the storyline and the characters were believable and relatable but because of the errors littered through it, grammatical and plot-wise I can't possibly rate it higher than a two star.
Again i read this book and felt nothing but right and sunny inside. The world is bleak at the moment and i can guarantee you that this book will wash all that away
Spring in Sicily: Escape to Italy Book two is by Holly Greene. This lovely novel takes us to the island of Sicily with its beaches and intimate towns. It introduces us to a small Italian town called Taormina where you have a clear view of the Ionian Sea and Mt. Etna as well as the lovely hills and beautiful beach. Here we find the cooking vacation run by Chef Isabella. Isabella opens her home to an intimate number of guests at a time for a week. During this week, the guests learn to cook authentic Italian cooking. They learn to buy their fresh ingredients in the town’s open market and to fix a different dish each night. Then, they all sit together to enjoy their meal on the outside patio overlooking Taormina. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, to Olivia, it definitely did. She was a travel writer and her editor sent her on an assignment to this cooking school for an article for their magazine. Olivia had been to Sicily once and had a terrible experience so was not looking forward to this assignment. In fact, she was going to turn it down until she read a review which challenged her to prove the review wrong. Will she? Kate was devastated by the latest news from her doctor, she was still not pregnant. Then he topped the appointment off with a suggestion that she and Ed take a vacation for a month before trying again. What she heard at first was he wasn’t going to try again for a month. She looked at other doctors; but decided starting from scratch was not the way to go. Instead, she started looking at vacation spots they could afford in Italy. Ed had always wanted to go to Italy, maybe this was the way to go. However, Ed had different plans which did not include a vacation! Martha was on a trip she didn’t want to take. She would rather stay home than travel; but her children had all gone together and designed this trip just for her. They thought she needed to get away as she hadn’t been anywhere since her husband died and now the youngest child, Kurt, was on his way to college so Martha was alone. They thought a trip to a cooking school in Italy was just the thing for her. So, she found herself on a plane to Italy. Was it their way of telling her she wasn’t needed any longer? Three different and unsuspecting women head to the small town of Taormina and Chef Isabella. What will each of them learn while they are there?
I really enjoyed the story of these ladies traveling abroad! I felt I was there experiencing the food, the people and the lovely place Sicily offers. It was exciting from the start and would highly recommend!!! Loved how I could close my eyes and feel I was right there. I will definitely read the next book by this writer.
