Sabrina Summers and her friends are forced to return to Dralfynia, and they're not happy! This time, she finds that she's Prince Charming, a boy, and her life is in danger, again. But if she thinks she's got it hard, pity her poor brother. This time he's Baby Bear. Follow Sabrina, Rory, Persis and Olive as they take on the quest to find the most uncomfortable glass slippers ever and maybe, just maybe, do something to make a difference to the people of Dralfynia.

Sabrina Summer's is a quick-thinking, courageous 12-year old, who, for the second time, finds herself snatched away into the kingdom of Dralfynia. This time, she assumes the appearance of Prince Charming, and her companions are Goldilocks (Olive), Sleeping Beauty (Persis) and Baby Bear (Rory, who is an genuine ginger bear). This time, their mission, to find the glass slippers, to keep Ruggy the uncooperative magic carpet from the hands of the "Beast", and to find their way back home. Unfortunately, if the best made plans can go astray, then the hastily made plans by a group of pre-teens stuck into fairy-tale personas is certainly going to. Our heroes are in for a roller-coaster ride involving a shoe museum, goblins, a sometime-dragon, wolves, treachery and deception. That too, and having to deal with cleaning up the mess they left behind them after their first visit.
These tales are a fun roller-coaster ride. Short chapters, combined with hook endings, capture even those with a short attention span. Whether the characters are falling out of one bit of trouble into another, or experiencing a brief (sometimes pun-fulled) reprieve, the prose is fun, wry and entertaining. I can highly recommend these tales.
The Uncomfortable Glass Slippers is the sequel to The Uncomfortable Flying Carpet so we follow the same characters but it is a story in itself. I liked the humour - it can be enjoyed by adults as well as children. My favourite touch of humour was Bridget's Spell Book - deceptively labelled "Interesting Recipes for Brussell Sprouts!! She made sure no child would want to look inside! There are lots of interesting characters, Clyde the horse being my particular favourite. As with the first book, my interest was held all the way through and I loved all the pantomime characters.
I read books 1 and 2 in one go and I'm looking forward to book 3. A very good continuation of the saga. I like the way that the characters are so familiar but used in a different setting. The book has short chapters which means the plot moves very quickly. This is important for me as I can get bored quickly if a story is too slow. Definitely not the case with this series. Some nice plot twists and humour make this a very good read.
