Mel Wilk's poems are about a Jew living in a non-Jewish country. Mel was my friend who died too young. I like better his book, Marrying America, published posthumously by his wife, Mary Beth.

No one writes like Wilk. Plain-spoken thoughts punctuated by such sudden and desirous images, like ripples in concrete.
