The story starts in the thick of the action with Patrick Barnes and Sienna Kincaide. Major Barnes, who's just been discharged from the army, has earned his retirement after seventeen years of service to his country. While Sienna, who works for Blackhawk Security, has been sent to protect Patrick who is unaware of the danger he's in. And then, one of them gets shot...
It's amazing and amusing how Patrick thinks about and is aware of Sienna even when bullets are flying! And a female bodyguard for an army man...oh yeah! How such a short book packs a punch!
A 10,000-word short story, a Novelette at that; it comes after the first book (Rules In Blackmail) of the Blackhawk Security Series. This story also mentions Captain Jane Reise and CEO of Blackhawk Security Sullivan Bishop (together with a spoiler for the first book, so read whichever you want to read first, and don't say I didn't warn you!) who have their story in the first book of the series Rules in Blackmail.

A short and intense story that goes along with the author's Blackhawk Security series in Harlequin Intrigue. Patrick Barnes was Jane Reise's (Rules in Blackmail) commanding officer and has left the military. He's on his way home when he finds himself the target of an assassin. Sienna is an operative for Blackhawk Security and was sent to protect Patrick.
The story opens with a rush as Patrick is run off the road, and Sienna arrives just in time to save him from the attacker. Someone is killing everyone associated with one of Patrick's court-martial cases, and he is the last survivor. The action is fast-paced and intense as Patrick and Sienna avoid a determined killer while trying to figure out who is behind it. The action is realistic, with both Sienna and Patrick injured in the process. The conclusion was a nail-biter as they faced off against the person who wanted them dead.
The development of their relationship was fast. The sparks of attraction were there from the moment they met and were a distraction they had to resist. Even amid their trouble, I liked their connection. Their banter is fun and a little snarky. Sienna can't get involved with a client, which motivates Patrick even more to find the person behind the killings. I liked the ending and seeing them determined to see where their connection goes. I hope to see more of them in future books.
There is also a reference to Rules in Blackmail as Sienna reveals how Jane got access to Sullivan in a secure building.

Nichole writes with explicit detail and suspense. Search! and Rescue was very action packed with a Major coming home in retirement from the service. He was assigned a protector for someone that wants him dead. Sargent Sienna Kincaide was sent to Connecticut meet the Major Patrick Barnes. As soon as they meet they start getting shot at and they try to get the attackers. Sienna ends up in the hospital. Patrick gets shot at while waiting Sienna to recover.
This is a story that is action packed with a little romance in . Nichole books becoming one of my favorite kind of suspense and romance combined. I recommend this book that is romance and suspense.

Great idea, too short to be complete
This is the story of Sienna and Patrick, who meet as Patrick is getting out of the military as a JAG Corps Prosecutor. As soon as he gets home, there is an assassin and Sienna has been sent to save him!

Patrick has just retired from the forces and is travelling home, Sienna has been tasked with guarding him against an unknown foe who has been killing people involved with a previous case. Their attraction is instantaneous but Sienna needs to concentrate on her job.

This grabs the reader’s attention quickly. It has a great female protagonist. Good writing that keeps the reader turning the page. The action is nonstop however the story focuses too much on the lusty feelings between Sienna and Patrick. Definitely more romance than thriller.

Wow from page 1 you are sitting on the edge of your seat. The suspense is of the charts. This is a superb book the only thing negative is that it is too short.

Great story pace and loved how the unanswered question from rules of blackmail was answered near the end this story before being sealed by a kiss 😁

Novellas are too short to really get invested in the characters, so they are not my favorites, but this was a good, action packed, quick read. Want to try one of Nichole Severn's full size novels 🙂🙂

Sienna is sent by her boss Jane at Blackhawk Security to rescue Patrick. This novella is full of suspense and will have you eagerly turning the pages until the end.

I really enjoyed this book. First time reading this author. Very delightful love story. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy romance novels. It's a very fast read.

Action packed for a short story, overall a good book. Only rated it 4 stars because some of the fight scenes just don't seem like they could be possible.

Search And Rescue is a fantastic romantic suspense by Nichole Severn. This is a very quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Patrick survives a crash when helped by a stranger. Sienna has been given the task of keeping Major Patrick Barnes alive. Sienna and Patrick's story is packed with action, drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Nichole Severn. Search And Rescue is book 1 of the Search and Rescue Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
