John Bunyan: Prisoner for Christ

Rate this book
John Bunyan is certainly one of history's most famous authors.

His book, The Pilgrim's Progress, has been read by more Christians than any other book except the Bible. With such great fame, it is surprising how few know the story of Bunyan's life and work in Bedford, England.

This is a solid, accessible biography for youth about John Bunyan-the faithful Puritan preacher and writer of the most popular work of fiction,"The Pilgrim's Progress".

George Mitchell uses two fictional teenagers working on a school project as the premise for the book. He uses this with success to insert witty information and exposition into Bunyan's life, times, and theology and apply them in a 21st century context without it coming across as too clumsy or academic.

It's a well-researched biography and could be used as an introduction into John Bunyan's importance in church history as well as 17th century English history.
