Among the most popular subjects in preschool curriculum, animals and nature come to life in this sturdy board book that allows even 2-year-olds to ³look it-up.² With die-cut pictorial tabs along the right-hand margin, children can point to the picture of an animal or object of interest to them, then turn to that spread and find out interesting facts through easy-to-understand captions and stunning, photo-realistic paintings.
3) Summary: This book describes the types of animals their are throughout this book. The categories that were used in this book were carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. This book goes in great depth with a wide view on what animals eat in this book with a lot of information.
4) Review: I think informational text such as this one is a excellent text for students to read because its about animals and children love animals. It is a great text that enables the children to engage with their reading.
5) Possible Class: Students can decide on one animals to research about that is not included in the text. They can create their own drawing and page with at least two facts about that animal. OR they can work in groups and make it a mini group project and create a poster.
1) No awards 2) K-2 3) This book describes what categories an animal may fit into such as carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. It uses tabs that a child can pull to reveal more about an animal. 4) I think this is a great interactive book that children can have fun while reading! When they see something they want to learn for about, they find that tab and pull to reveal all the facts about an animal. 5) Children could choose an animal, not in the book and research which category they fit in and make their own little page to make a class book
Cute book. I didn’t like how it went from herbivore to carnivore to carnivore to herbivore to omnivore to omnivore. I thought the same types should have been kept together.
