This was a really good read! Not overly academic/technical, but definitely something more academics should read. In my opinion, this is a groundbreaking coverage of Indian English that hasn't been matched since its publication nearly THIRTY years ago!

I forgot about this book, but I got a lot of mileage out it for class papers. The author explains how the use of silence is an acceptable practice in certain situations. He explains how hedging is nothing more than a way to cite your sources and not sound like a know-it-all. More stuff like that in here.
