Craftsmen: Skillfully Leading Your Family for Christ
The craftsman can take a stack of wood and produce a beautiful piece of furniture. He not only possesses intellectual abilities to follow a blueprint or step-by-step instructions, but he is also an artist. His hands manipulate the wood into beautiful shapes. His eyes anticipate the right cuts and movements. His workmanship causes others to wonder at his skill.
Such craftsmanship has an application for all men. While not every men may be able to create the products of a master cabinet maker, each man is responsible to create his life with equal skill. Every area of a Christian man's life must be molded by the wisdom of God. His words, his work, his relationships, and even the way he uses his resources must flow from a heart gripped by the character of God. Such a heartbeat for God's glory will practically result in a life skillfully lived.

This was a much needed slap to my soul. Painful to read at times because I saw so many areas that I need to improve upon, but also a balm to my soul as it helped my focus turn to Christ.

Interesting & useful application of Proverbs. Uses many illustrations from daily US life, yet remains accessible for foreigners like me.

Pretty good stuff, but not very well presented. For a more useful exploration of themes in Proverbs, I would recommend A Proverbs-Driven Life.

Livro pequeno em tamanho, mas grandioso em conteúdo, John Crotts condensou em capítulos muito práticos aquilo que a Bíblia fala sobre a sabedoria - a verdadeira sabedoria, não aquela suposta iluminação direta obtida de um guru meio pelado no topo de um monte.
Ser sábio é dominar a arte do 'viver habilidoso'. Tem grande conexão com moralidade. O sábio tem um caminho reto, segundo provérbios 2. Sabedoria envolve aprender os caminhos de Deus a partir de Sua Palavra e, então, fazer escolhas corretas baseadas na sua verdade. A nossa consistência em fazer as escolhas certas é uma indicação da nossa maturidade e crescimento em sabedoria.
A sabedoria não é somente um conjunto de ensinamentos; mas uma habilidade prática.
Da mesma forma que Deus nos considera justos por causa da justiça de Jesus, Ele nos considera sábios baseados na sabedoria de Jesus. Fundamentados nisso, devemos buscar a sabedoria prática.
O livro termina de forma magistral com as seguintes conclusões:
"A sua diligência em buscar a sabedoria de Deus mostrará o quanto você pensa que ela vale. Por fim, os seus esforços mostrarão o quanto você pensa que Deus vale." (p.156)

Excelente livro que retrata a sabedoria, relacionando-a ao homem, buscando aplicações nas diversas áreas da vida, como trabalho, sexo, amizades e temperamento. Super recomendo para quem é como eu: um tolo carente de sabedoria.

Bíblico e prático. O autor consegue trazer, de maneira muito objetiva e prática, os principais aspectos da sabedoria relatados em Provérbios e aplica-los a vida daqueles que desejam ter um viver sábio para glória de Deus.

Read it as part of a daily Bible study with my boys and we loved it. Thorough and biblical look at the ways to grow in skillful and wise living for the glory of God. Highly recommend it.

Excelente livro baseado em Provérbios com várias exortações e aplicações em como viver de forma sábia.

Highly recommend this book, the second time i have read it and probably still 99% of it I still need to apply. Excellent chapter on speech.
