“இங்கே போயிருக்கிறீர்களா?” என்று நான் வாசகர்களைப் பார்த்து ஒரு கேள்வியை எழுப்பி விட்டுச் சும்மா இருந்துவிட வில்லை. நான் சென்று வந்த இடங்களில் கண்டதையெல்லாம் ஒரு ‘நியூஸ் ரீல்’ போலச் சுவையாகச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன். நமது நாட்டில் நான் போகாத இடங்கள் இல்லை. சுற்றிப் பார்க்காத பகுதிகள் இல்லை. சென்ற இடங்களில் எல்லாம் எல்லாருக்கும் தெரிந்ததையே திரும்பத் திரும்பச் சொல்ல வில்லை. சந்து பொந்துகளில் எல்லாம் புகுந்து புறப்பட்டு, மூலை முடுக்குகளில் எல்லாம் நின்று கவனித்து, அந்த அனுபவங்களை அப்படியே எழுதியிருக்கிறேன்.

Sa. Viswanathan alias Saavi a famous Tamil author contributed important novels in Tamil history. Washingtonil Thirumanam was written by Saavi. A gentle story with a hilarious touch by Chavi would keep the readers (of course born with Tamil as mother tongue) laughing till the end.

A travelogue in tamil, covering places of India by a person like Saavi. No wonder I picked it and immediately started reading it. It made me realise how Madras (now chennai) was in 1962. I got to know more about the history of this city, where zoo existed earlier, why is park station called so, where was kothaval chavadi and how was marina beach 50 years back. I could also get to know and experience places like matuthavani, jawaharlal nehru home and many other places which I didn't visit till now or rather might not have chance to visit (owing to it being moved over somewhere or removed). The changes of some places like neyveli, ellora, matunga, marina, kaveri in trichy which I saw / keep seeing seems blemish in some and proud in few other cases. But one thing I could understand is change is inevitable and growth is un avoidable.

Some places like kolar gold mine, pollachi sandhai, meenakshi amman temple and ponda in goa on reading brings in desire to see them. If you want places to visit and feel you dont know where to go, read this book it can guide you into some.

If you love travel and history this book is for you go for it. You will surely enjoy
