This book is a memoir and testimony about the author's escape from an abusive cult. It provides insight and powerful lessons learned from the horrific events that took place. This book also contains real testimonies of other survivors of this same cult. All experiences shared about the cult leader, Jimmy, and how he preys on the vulnerable lives that he has influenced are eye-opening, very traumatic yet surreal, and strikingly similar to the late Jim Jones and his cult, The People's Temple. The survivors of this cult, House of Prayer, are fearful that Jimmy will follow in Jones' footsteps unto death taking his followers with him.
This book is an account of people I know to include the author. It is an accurate account of what's going on behind closed doors of a church group I was also involved in. The man Jimmy is a deceiver to the utmost disgust. I followed his lead from 1996 to 2009. What the book says is probably a small fraction of what this man has done to people over the many years he's been behind the pulpit. Read it and let your heart be enlightened to what a man can do. Like Jim Jones "Jimmy" is like minded. God bless you all.
This is a very insightful book about how an individual can get caught up in a cult. The author with the help of God was able to be resilient through devastating life changing circumstances. He and his wife are now determined to warn others to avoid the trappings of subversive and manipulative cult leaders. They are also determined to help others to escape what was promoted as a house of prayer but was all along a den of thieves. Thank you for sharing your experiences. The testimonies that people share more powerful than they realize.
This book held my interest from start to finish. It is definitely a page turner. There are so many aspects that this book covers that I never considered or even thought of. The complex situations of the lives of people who encounter this church are horrific. I’m glad this book exposes this travesty. Prayerfully a lot of good will come out of this publication.
This is a really scary thing to be involved in and shed light on. It is courageous and bold but the right thing to do. The mental and psychological abuse experienced by these people is unbelievable. I hope people leave and marriages are restored
📚Review: Arlen and Loistene Bradeen’s House of Prayer / Den of Thieves: Unveiled Edition is a gripping, harrowing, and ultimately redemptive memoir that exposes the dark underbelly of spiritual manipulation. Once devoted leaders within the House of Prayer Christian Churches of America, the Bradeens courageously unveil how faith was twisted into fear, loyalty into control, and worship into exploitation.
This “Unveiled Edition” goes deeper than ever before, revealing shocking new details about FBI raids, legal battles, and the survivors’ struggle for justice after a $22 million fraud that devastated countless lives. Told with brutal honesty and unwavering faith, their story is both a personal testimony and a powerful warning to others.
What makes House of Prayer / Den of Thieves unforgettable is its balance of heartbreak and hope. The Bradeens don’t just expose deception—they illuminate the path to healing through truth and faith in Christ.
Courageous, convicting, and profoundly inspiring, this book is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the real cost of spiritual abuse and the power of redemption. Highly recommended.
What a book! I can't imagine being trapped in a cult, slowly withering away by the lies of a crooked, evil leader. Bradeen's courage to escape a cult is fascinating. And brave, to expose the inner workings of the leader and his destructive ways. One can only pray this man gets caught and is stopped. God bless the survivors, and may those still inside be delivered from the trap.
