A tiny portion of the population have empty space where the name of their soulmark should be.

Ryan Newell believes that hockey is his one true love. Knowing he doesn't have a soulmate, he gives his heart to the Madison Howlers. It's only his body that he gives away freely.

A little too freely. A scandalous picture lands him in hot water with the team's PR. To fix his rep, they send him off to fundraise for a local charity.

That's where he meets Naomi Stone. Being blind since birth, Naomi has never seen the name that's written on her skin. All she knows is that Ryan makes her pulse race and her skin tingle in ways she's never felt before.

As things heat up between them, Ryan starts to feel like he's in over his head. Having a girlfriend isn't something you can train for. Knowing that he can't be Naomi's soulmate is a thought that Ryan can't escape.

Finding love is hard enough without knowing you are no one's destiny.

Ok, I loved everything except "soul marks."
Those are weird.
I thought the blind aspect was very original and I enjoyed that I learned how a awesome blind woman enjoyed her life. So three stars are for that alone.

A great story of love and exploration between Ryan and Naomi.
Ryan has the idea that since he is a very successful hockey player, he thinks he can stretch the truth and treat women with a lot less respect than what they deserve. After he sent a semi-nude picture to a woman who asked him to, he gets called into the PR department of the hockey team. He learns he has to polish his image or face being let go from the team.

The PR department decides that Ryan needs to help with a charity in order to help to improve his image.
Enter Naomi and Dougie (her seeing eye dog) and the Sunshine Foundation (training seeing eye dogs).
The more time they spend together, the more they fall in love BUT in Ryan's head he is not the "soulmate" for her because he doesn't have a soulmate's name on his body anywhere. (in this story most everyone is born with their soulmates name written on their bodies).
Eventually after the break-up and all the heartache, Ryan believes they are soulmates. Just because Naomi can't see the name on her (she has been told it says Ryan or see that Ryan doesn't have one).
A nice HEA book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ryan is a terrific hockey player. But he's also a player, causing a PR nightmare for his team. When he's ordered to get involved with a charity that provides guide dog training for the blind, he meets Naomi, the director, who's been blind since birth. They begin to date, and they seem like a perfect couple. There's a learning curve for him, having not been around a blind person, but they seem to be working through their differences, maintaining open lines of communication. Until he decides that he's not her soulmate. This is a phenomenal book - not the usual hockey romances that I love, but showcasing a romance that's so much deeper. This story flowed from the first page, and never once lost my interest. It's easy reading, and the characters are real and perfectly imperfect. I was confused about the soulmark concept, and Ryan's lack of a soulmark did play a part in the drama that transpired. This is my first read from this author, and I'm totally hooked.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Naomi and Ryan. Ryan is a bad boy hockey player that keeps getting into trouble. After his last escapade he's told to do a charity event or else. When he arrives he meets Naomi. But what surprises him the most of she's blind and running the event. There is a connection but he tries to deny it. Most people see marked with their soulmates name, Naomi is but Ryan doesn't have one. Great HEA with each finding happiness in each other.

Empty Net is a really good book. The idea of soulmates being destined by a soulmark an interesting one. I loved that the book had a blind heroine. I feel people with different disabilities are not written about enough. The heroine isn't any less capable or any less livable because she's blind. Ryan is a great character. He's a great guy that has insecurities because he doesn't have a soulmark. Overall, I enjoyed the book a lot.

A phenomenal book three in the Madison Howlers series! It is well written, entertaining, flows smoothly, and will hold your attention from start to finish. An emotionally deep read with drama, ups and downs, love, passion, and soulmates. The characters are real and well developed; and you will love and root for them. A definite Must Read!

This is not your typical romance. Most people are born with their soulmates name on their arm. However Ryan does not have one and naomi was born blind so she has never seen her name. Will they work things out and get together?
