Since the first steps in European Integration were taken with the formation of the European Coal and Steel community, the impact of membership upon the individual states has become an issue of increasing importance to governments, political parties, interest groups and researchers. This is a comprehensive study of the costs and benefits of EC membership for France. The volume forms part of a series which systematically attempts to compare and contrast each of the member states within the context of the European Community. The common framework adopted for each volume facilitates comparison in all areas of policy.
