Rate this book
Mrs. McBee was reputed to be one of the leading Mississippi genealogists of her generation. Not originally compiled for publication, this work contains a wealth of genealogical information. Virtually all the information in this volume dates from the first half of the nineteenth century and and is derived from the court records of the following Mississippi Claiborne, Harrison, Hinds, Holmes, Jefferson, Warren, and Wilkinson. The contents include genealogical abstracts of deeds, wills and bonds, probate minutes, and marriage bonds. Each of the seven sets of county record abstracts is separately indexed for persons, while an index of places follows at the end of the volume. Overall, the genealogical content is very rich and extends to nearly 2,000 individuals.
