This deck has a hidden secret I don’t see mentioned anywhere. The art on the cards is simple, but deep in meaning so they draw you in & reveal the full purpose of the card as you study them. The inclusion of the associated astrological values seems critical to me & always adds another layer to a reading when I have it on the card, and the addition of Enochian elemental seals on the back of each card makes this deck a perfectly crafted & charged work of magickal art. Just for technical precision, I think this is one of the best tarot decks ever made & is absolutely worthy of Crowley’s lineage, where several others I’ve seen have tried & failed, in my opinion. And none of that is the hidden secret! It takes practice, but each card places ‘flashing colors’ opposite each other on the borders, and most of them have a center axis clearly defined, usually with the eyes of the character on either side, or some other obvious focus points. If you de-focus your eyes & allow them to fix loosely on the opposite point, so that only your right eye is focused on their right eye (or etc) and your left eye is only focused on their left - the OPPOSITE side as you look at it, like you would for basic stereoscopic images - if you focus correctly, the left side of the image will superimpose on the right side in your minds eye & vice versa, which causes the flashing colors to seemingly light up the border, while the center of the card will appear to form a 3-dimensional gateway THROUGH the card, like you could fall right into it. The Universe is SPECTACULAR. If you focus normally, it’s gone...but personally, I feel that allowing your mind to fall ‘through’ these gates, in combination with the symbols on front & back, allows a mini astral voyage to connect DIRECTLY with the Book of Thoth, since in my experience, when this works, there is an absolute flood of information & imagery that comes through, including things I didn’t or couldn’t have known. This is why I say this is THE supreme deck, rivaled ONLY by the Crowley/Harris deck. I like the Voyager deck a lot, and some of the classics like the Scapini, but the Magickal Tarot is in an entirely different class - real magick equipment, not a knock-off copy. Anyone not giving this deck top ratings hasn’t really opened it up, even if they use it
The book itself is a useful and concise reference, along with numerous suggestions to primary source material that is supported in the deck. The cards appeared rather flat visually until I began to appreciate the enormous amount of information displayed. They have taken on a more potent beauty through their generous offerings over time.
