She did manage to study physiology and anatomy and after graduating from Washington University, she became a clinical secretary in a hospital. During the years that followed, she grew to understand something of the lives, emotions and problems of the people that made up the medical profession. With this knowledge, she began to write.

I'm sure I picked this up at some type of used book sale. I found it interesting - the writing was a bit "Nancy Drew" to me and even had me giggling at times. I'm curious to know the author's motive as it seems she may have been using this as a platform to inform people about many facets of drug use and the impact on various people. I enjoyed it.
